MP3 Deluxe 19 error "The Windows Media system could not respond."

I am having problems trying to import my large library of wma files into MP3 Deluxe 19. These files can be played in windows media player, which seems to handle the wma codec for MP3 Deluxe? The exact error message is in the title. The bitrate of these files are ~48kbps. Each individual file cannot be played (producing the same error message as in the title. Same message also appears twice in a row on program launch), and importing the entire library (~30 GB) causes instability and crashes frequently. I am running MP3 Deluxe 19 version 19.0.1.48, Windows media player is on version 12.0.18362.657. Windows 10 shows that there are no updates for windows media player currently. Does anyone have any advice or solutions for me? Thank you.

Do you have a computer with Windows 7? Maybe it runs better on an older system.

@SP.

MP3 Deluxe is compatible with Windows 10.

. . . . MP3 Deluxe 19 version 19.0.1.48, Windows media player is on version 12.0.18362.657. Windows 10 shows that there are no updates for windows media player currently . . . .

Have you tried a full restart the computer - Start menu, Power icon, Restart.

I do not have anything running windows 7 still to test, and yes, I have tried all permutations and combinations of rebooting, uninstalling, and reinstalling MP3 Deluxe and Windows Media Player.
