I'm trying to synch a video with the direct audio recorded from that same event. I'm not being able to completely synch it because I'm limited to moving the object to the grid lines and I've already zoomed to the smallest grid line available. In other programs I use, like for audio editing you've got the option to turn off the grid aligning and by doing that you can fine tune a movement... is there an option like that in Magix Movie Edit Pro 15?? In other words it's like a free from the grid, object movement option that I'm looking for. I've looked everywhere for an option like that and haven't found it. Really appreciate any help.
The magnet button in the toolbar underneath the mediapool will turn the snapping on and off. Make sure it's disabled. Once you've done that and you zoom in far enough to see individual video frames in the timeline, you will see that you can move the audio object frame by frame. That's as accurate as it gets in the program and enough for most use cases. If you really need even more accuracy, you might want to look at Video Pro X, which allows for frame-accurate manipulation of audio objects:
Not sure whether the sync problem really originates from an absolute offset between video and audio object, though. Frame-accurate is pretty accurate. Not sure whether many people could tell the difference. We're talking about steps of 0.04 seconds or less here (depending on your frame rate). Maybe, the two objects are running at slightly different speeds, since you really have two separate sources here. You'd need to have pretty good equipment and some luck for this to actually work out perfectly. If you notice that you can start out from a synced point and it's running out of sync later on, you might want to experiment with the sample rate of the audio file or use the stretching mouse mode to adjust the length of the audio object to the video object.
As far as your sync problem in regular video material are concerned, what kind of source material is it that you're using? What kind of video format/codec are you importing? If that is any kind of MPEG-2 material, try right-clicking on the video track in the timeline after import and choose the option to create a new frame table (first option in the context menu that will pop up on right-click). Play back again and see whether that fixes it.
There is an ungroup function to take apart the grouped video and audio tracks that you will get after importing a video file. It's the little broken chain icon in the toolbar under the mediapool. Or you can use the CTRL+M shortcut. (Select the video/audio object first.)

hi, I'm having your same problem with video deluxe edit premium 2021.. I can't move my track between the frames.. and so the synch in not exactly made. Did you find a solution..? I have already spent a lot of time looking for this.. thanks..
@Antonio.Piretti As far as I know, in MEP you can't place an object (video or audio) "intraframe". It's left edge will always snap to a whole-frame point on the timeline. I stand to be corrected though! 😉
Sound can only be moved by the amount of one frame at a time in Movie Edit Pro. You could edit the file externally and chop off a small amount at the beginning to move it less and then see if it synchronizes better. If you need to have more control you would need Video Pro X which I think has that capability.
This thread was started in 2009! As such, it really needs to not be resurrected, please.
@Antonio.Piretti, as you have been told, MEP cannot synchronise to anything less than a whole frame. VPX (Video Pro X) does allow such intra-frame synchronisation. If you want to discuss this any further, please start a new thread.
