moving cropped edges

I know how to crop an edge of a video clip, so that part of the image is missing.

What I want to do, is to MOVE that cropped edge over the length of the clip, without moving the other edges..

To do this, I'll have to set keyframes, but as soon as I apply a keyframe, the program tells me that in order to move a section, that section must in proportion to the film, and resets it back to a size that fits in the smaller area.

Which means the image is complete, but smaller.

How can I overcome this?

Hi

This can be a bit of a problem as MEP keeps resetting the Free proportions back to Like movie.

As an alternative:-

Use a black image on a track below the video clip, size it to the same width/height as the video and use keyframes to slide this across the video clip you want to 'crop'.

You can then overlay any titles or other objects over the black part by placing them on a track(s) below the black image.

Thanks John.

I tried this with a green image and the chromakey function, and it worked.

But there was a thin line where the moving edge would be.

I'll try this with a black image, and report(?) back.

A pity that MEP doesn't have a crop function like Pinnacle....
