MovieStudio 2022 - mpeg2_x64.dll error

Louise-Collingridge wrote on 2/9/2022, 3:02 AM

I am hoping someone can explain how to fix what is showing up as a "serious program error" and causes MovieStudio 2022 to shut down.

When opening the program, I get the error message:

Error in module"mpeg2_x64.dll" (Load address 0x00007FFB96F40000) to address 0x00007FFB96F (exception 0x000005 "ACCESS_VIOLATION")

I have reset Windows, uninstalled and reinstalled MovieStudio and I keep getting the same error message.

All suggestions will be appreciated.

Hello, Welcome

Not sure if this will help, but it's worth a try, bear in mind these are public user to user forums.

Check windows for updates, including your video drivers.

Run sfc/scannow under admin rights in command prompt and restart Pc once completed.

Use the free Revo to uninstall program including remnants from registry and reinstall again.

Hi Graham & Stephen....I ended up reinstalling

Windows - although that did not actually help. I reinstalled the program many times over. Then I had the idea to run it as administrator, and that worked. I also found that the way I copied media onto the timeline seemed to make a difference. If I used the arrow key the program would freeze. If I dragged the media to the timeline, then it worked. So annoying, and crazy - but I am not longer getting the error.

I hope this helps.

Louise

@Louise-Collingridge Hi, I'm glad you found a solution but i just want to mention that reinstalling a program sometimes corrects an error but reinstalling multiple times can sometimes cause errors, if the program installed & opened then errors could well be something else other than the program itself,

It doesn't look like you've had much help with this so would you start by going to your icon at the top, click it - My Profile, & fill in your Signature with your Magix version, Windows version & system specs, CPU, GPU, RAM etc. this will then show at the bottom of the comments & will help people help you 👍 this info can be found if you right click on the taskbar at the Bottom of your screen & open Taskmanager - Performance, CPU is the Processor it's name is top right of the graph, Memory is RAM - the amount & GPU at the bottom is the graphics card, the name will be there 👍

Also the type of media/video your using would be good to know, there's a tool called MediaInfo, download it, it's free https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo
After downloading, right click on the media in your Windows folder, open MediaInfo, choose Text from the View option, select all, copy & paste in a comment here,

There's plenty of people here willing to help but this info helps, 👍
