Movie Templates, Movie Edit Pro Premium.

Why does the sample movie template Limitless Power, (and other movie templates) run about 32:13 long, but when I download it to edit the template and work on it, it is now only 17:07 seconds? I can't use that, it too short of time. How do I get this template and the other templates to be the full 32:13 seconds long?

@Douglas-Erwin

Welcome to the Magix forums.

First, can you please confirm exactly which version and variant of which Magix product you are using? You've chosen Movie Edit Pro as your product; I'm running the latest version of MEP Premium (19.0.2.58) but cannot find any template called "Limitless Power" available from within the program. So where are you seeing this template?

It would also be helpful to we fellow-users if you would read this pinned post and give us full details about your computer etc.

Hi Jeff,

"Limitless Power" is available from the Store.

@Douglas-Erwin

Good question!

In MEP2016 P/P, there were versions of movie templates for different lengths.

These subsequently disappeared; I don't know when.

I suggest that you ask Magix directly where the different durations are for the templates, how to get them, and how to get at least the full 30+ seconds corresponding to the duration of the audio file.

Can you also check to see where the Limitless Power music ended up? The original is probably in the Shop Manager under C:\Users\your_name\Documents\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro Premium\ShopManager_Videodeluxe25_premium or something like that (I have MEP2019, not 2020). You will likely need the name of the file for searching if there are a lot of folders under the ShopManager.

You can also use the template and click on the checkmark to the upper right of the timeline window to put the template on the timeline. Note that you can't go back to the template and you can now make any adjustments that you want, i.e. edit normally. Check the properties of the audio file to get the exact name.

MEP will probably create a subfolder like this:

C:\Users\Admin\Documents\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro Premium\Projects\2016_Looking_Around

under wherever you keep your project files.

Check to see what is under the folder. For the case of "Looking Around" here is what I get. I don't know if a template purchased from the Store will behave the same way, but probably. Let us know.

Here, you can see the various durations for the templates, including the ogg (audio) files and MVP project files.

If there is a longer version of the ogg showing, drag it onto the timeline, replacing the version created by the template. Edit the video to suit. I have used templates occasionally as intros for longer videos and I have modified templates as per the tutorial below:

Also, note that in the folder that was created there are also MVP files for various durations. You can open the project file for the duration that you want, however, it will be on the timeline, not in a template window (at least, not in my version). All of the placeholders will be there and you can now exchange them (change the import mode to Exchange or shortcut 4) with your own photos and video clips, and modify the text objects. Save the project with a different name to your normal Project folder.

@Douglas-Erwin, @browj2

Hi

In the Movie templates the individual lengths of the placeholders or overall length of the movie cannot be changed while working in 'Template' mode, IIRC the different lengths disappeared in the 2018 version.

If you switch to manual editing mode ie Timeline mode you can modify the object durations etc at will.

To revert to manual editing click the check mark indicated in the image below and confirm the action.

Note: this literally disconnects the movie from the template and there is no return back to template mode.
