Movie Studio Ultimate

Movie studio ultimate is a new product correct? I assume it contains all the features for editing titles Etc? As far as anybody knows is there an upgrade price from an older movie studio version? And in anybody's estimation how easy does this seem to be to use? Thank you all.

Hi Stephen.

It appears to be one of their time limited offers which if the date is correct has already expired. I have already got all but four of the plugins though from previous offers so not the bargain for me personally. Also one of those effects packages (ProDad) is just for a one year licence.

Stephen, if you're coming from Vegas/Sony Movie Studio, beware! "Magix" Movie Studio is completely different and will require a significant adjustment on your part. Whether it's for better or for worse, I can't say because I don't use any Vegas-type editors.

We have users of both programs here, so the best thing would be to try the trial. If you want to stick with the old Vegas format, Magix has various flavours of Vegas on it's website.

All my forum comments are based on or refer to my System 1.

My struggle is over! I built my (now) system 2 in 2011 when DV was king and MPEG 2 was just coming onto the scene and I needed a more powerful system to cope. Since then we've advanced to MP4 and to bigger and bigger resolutions. I was really suffering, not so much in editing (with proxies) but in encoding, which just took ages. A video, with Neat Video noise reduction applied, would encode at 12% of film speed. My new system 1 does the same job at 160% of film speed. Marvellous. I'm keeping my old system as a capture station for analogue video tapes and DV.

@Stephen-Simmons

Hi.

@AAProds (Al) is correct.

If you are coming from Vegas Studio 17 or earlier it will be a completely different program based on the previously titled Movie Edit Pro by Magix, not Vegas. The two programs merged when the Vegas developers dropped support for the Vegas Movie Studio and now the lowest priced Vegas program is Vegas Edit Pro should you wish to be familiar with that workflow. As such it is an upgrade and more costly. That means the entry level program across both platforms is now the Magix Movie Studio and has nothing to do with what Vegas produced.

Be aware that some of the older effects no longer exist in the new Magix version of the program and old projects will not fully open in the new Magix version of Movie Studio. Only the video clips in the correct order will be present. To open older projects fully you would need Vegas Edit Pro and even then there may be problems. To find out more about that you would need to visit the https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/vegas-pro-forum/.

Either way, make sure your computer meets the requirements to run the program, whichever you choose.

Thanks guys. Yes I'm actually coming from Vegas Pro 21. I was hoping when I upgraded from Vegas Pro 20 I would get less crashes because of one of the YouTube tutorials that said it was more stable. Edits from those tutorials that made me think that maybe magics movie studio ultimate might be a little simpler. As someone mentioned I should probably download the trial and see how that goes.

I also have DaVinci resolved but it seems a lot more like my buddies Adobe Premiere. And harder to navigate.

Not positive but it occurs to me that any time limited special offer seems to turn over with the time limit is up.

I just checked and now the limited offer is good through October 10th. Haha.

@Stephen-Simmons Hi, I don't want to get into which program is better, more stable or can/can't do certain things, this has been discussed many times. so -

The Trial can fly past too quick to evaluate the program properly so if you mention your needs & wants from MMS I'm sure we can tell you how to go about it & whether or not it's possible. 👍
