I downloaded the trial of Movie Studio Pro 2025 and everything was installed correctly, but when I try to open the program, it immediately shuts down. I can't get into the program to start the trial.
I just ordered Movie Studio Platinum 2025, thinking that if I buy a serial number, it would fix the problem, but it hasn't. I paid and registered the program, but still can't open it on my computer. When I click on the icon for Magix Movie Studio, it starts to open, then immediately closes.
@MJames Hi, this is a user forum not magix support but someone is going to be able to help you 👍
They're going to want to know the specs of your PC, full name of the CPU (Processor), the full name of your GPU (Graphics card), how much RAM you have (Memory), & which Windows version. You can put these in your Signature by clicking My Profile at the top of the page.
Check that your anti virus isn't blocking the program, open your anti virus & add Movie studio to the Allowed / Exceptions section..
Hi again, I contacted support and they asked me to press the ESC key when Movie Studio 2025 is starting to open. I did that but it didn't help.
I noticed the program crashes when it is trying to load the Media Pool files.
Support told me to move those files to another drive, but I can't find the files.
Does anyone know the name of the Media Pool files so I can do a search on the drive, locate them and then move them.
Another user - years ago - had the same problem and it was suggested he delete the videodeluxe.ini or movieedit.ini files. He did that and it solved his problem, but I don't see any such files in Movie Studio 2025.
@MJames Hi, I'm not sure if that was very good advice from Magix, the Media Pool is a window on the program, it has tabs for your computer, drives, files etc, a tab for the effects & media adjustment, a tab for transitions, a tab for audio & one for the HUB... They're something you don't want to be messing with.
There's files in Documents that can be moved but I never touch those so can't advise & It's 1am here in England, there's a few people all over the world that might be able to help but some might be in bed.. someone will get back to you 👍
Do you remember where you installed the Trial, was that to your main (C) Drive?
Yes the C drive. I actually bought the program and tried to install it, first to C drive, then to my external drive (G).
Every time, no matter trial or actual purchased product, no matter the drive, it always crashes on me when trying to open as soon as it gets to the Media Pool
Does anyone know the name of the Media Pool files so I can do a search on the drive, locate them and then move them
They are simply the files in the folder that the Media Pool (which is really just a file browser, like Win Explorer) opens. There's no actual "media pool", per se. As you open MMS, have a look at the folder showing in the media pool window and then relocate the files (or the folders). IIRC, I think the problem is Magix tried to read a rogue file and crashes.
Re the INI file, it's located here, in your computer's Users folder:
C:\Users\Your username goes in here\AppData\Roaming\MAGIX\Videodeluxe31_premium\Videodeluxe.ini
Close MMS (not that it opens! 😀), rename the INI file to something else, then restart MMS.
