Movie Studio Platinum V18 Problem

Hi, I am a MS v15 user and just downloaded V18 but have issues getting the download sorted so looking for some help please. Having downloaded I noted a lot of files had been saved in my Onedrive folder. I have limited space in that folder ( free allocation) so moved those files. Other than that the download was fine. As a first trial I just tried previewing some videos and photos on my PC ( Import). Photos and older .wmv files previewed fine but if I tried to preview a MP4 file I only got audio but no video and the preview cursor stutters/staggers across the clip. I thought it might be a missing codec and I know the videos I created in V15 used Mainconcept so I downloaded that..........no difference. Any ideas please? (PS V15 still runs fine.)

@mikerb

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

Have you seen/read this thread and this one?

Movie Studio 18 is NOT an upgrade to any earlier version of MS; rather it is a "new" product, essentially a rebadged version of Movie Edit Pro. IOW, it is quite "different" to those earlier versions and does require the user to undertake some level of relearning of the software!

To be able to even attempt to answer your question about the stuttering/staggering mp4 file which displays no video we really need to know a lot more about your computer. Please read this post and give us all the information requested there.

Then, download and install the free MediaInfo utility, point it to your mp4 file and post here all the results of the Text view.

With all this additional information we should have enough information to at least suggest a possible solution.

Hi Jeff. Yes I just realized this is a completely new program! He ho...I still have MS v15 if all else fails..........MEANWHILE...I started going through the tutorial videos and No2 gave me the little gem I needed to resolve my issue. The program settings had my NVIDIA GT Force 650 video card being used for both preview and render.....I disabled it for preview and I can now preview my MPG4 files...ie no black screen and no stuttering. I also uninstalled and reinstalled, this time changing the folder defaults so that nothing was saved to my Onedrive folder. I am ready to start finding out how to use the program now!! Onto video No 3! Thanks for your prompt reply..I wil probably be back!!
