Movie Studio 2023 suite VST's for audio not showing

Hi

I've just started using movie studio. I have some VST's that I want to use for my audio tracks. I think I should be able to in this version? I set my folders to point to my VST directory, then go into effects and scan for other effects, it finds 63 and tells me they will be available when I restart. But they aren't, unless I'm looking in the wrong place. The help still refers to old versions (pro and premium) and stuff that don't seem appropriate anymore. Does anyone know where I can find the VST effects please to apply to my voice overs? I really want to do my them inside the app if I can with my de-esser etc. and not import from audacity all the time just for the sake of the effects.

cheers

Chris

@Chris-Gilholm Hi, I've got to be honest audio effects for me involve the volume slider 😁🤷‍♂️

So until you get a better reply - this picture from a while back is of me looking for a vst effect in Mixer, are yours there?

Yeah, just to add to the help above, you need to open the mixer, then select "FX" (from the top of the mixer tracks, there are FX/AUTO buttons on top of every mixer track) that will open the audio effects sub-menu... Then you just select the "+" at the bottom of the sub-menu, to access your own VSTs.

If you choose the FX button above the master track, then that will allow you to add the VST to the whole audio, not just an individual track. Obviously, there are instances where you only want to add (say, echo) to one track and not everything, but anyway, sure you get the idea!

Thank you both for the answers. Looked everywhere but over that side of the screen. All good now!

@Chris-Gilholm Yeah, I don't know why those buttons are way over there on the right, 🤷‍♂️

Hi,

A little late to the game. I suggest that you watch my 2 tutorials on Everything Audio in Movie Studio. Here is a link to part 1:

For the mixer - shortcut M

As has been mentioned, you can apply VST effects to tracks using the Mixer, and there is a way to apply VST effects to single objects, The single objects can use the 2 auxiliary FX busses in the Mixer. In the Mixer, just slide the Aux sliders to the right to open the 2 FX busses, then move the sliders back; the 2 aux FX busses remain. You can now access the 2 FX busses and add effects that you want to use for individual clips (or even tracks). This is limited to only the 2 busses.

Select the audio part of a video clip or an audio clip, go to Effects, Audio effects, General, and you have access to AUX1 and AUX2. Moving the sliders will apply the effects that are in the 2 effects aux busses in the Mixer by the amount that you specify here. You can also keyframe these effects right here.
