movie studio 2023 suite

spuddy13 wrote on 3/2/2023, 4:43 PM

love the program but can anyone point me to a simple plan to get to grips with product simply and quickly

i try to watch videos, read tutorials, got overwhelmed or follow a video thats showing a different version

i am on latest package - movie studio suite 2023 - i would even go online weekly for training with a tutor

if it exists

i am retired and want to know this product inside out, but i get frustrated and give up, its got so much to offer

and i find the user manual and tutorials i have found are not giving justice to product

all i need is good pointers and i will follow your guidance

can anyone who is new that progressed quickly to grasp product help me

i was a computer support tech in a university so i am not daft, probably more impatient and want to progress quickly

many thanks

Hi Brian, and welcome to the user to user forums.

The forum is a good place to ask specific questions if you have a problem. Not so good for general enquiries.

I have been on the forums for about four years now but did get into the editing side of the program on my own for the first couple of months. Then came here when I started to get into difficulty. Most people will get an answer on the forum within half a day from the dozen or so very active members here.

The main problem with anyone giving tutorage I would imagine would be if the way they work is different to the way you wish to work. Some here prefer to use keyboard shortcuts while others will rely more on the use of the mouse. Others a mixture, and often advice will be slightly different from one user to another. Also we don't all do the same types of projects or use the same solutions for a given problem. It would help us to know what you hope to be able to do and what you can already do for yourself.

I myself found it useful to start off by importing a few short video clips into the project using the timeline mode and having the video and audio portions on tracks 1 and 2. Video editors are always non destructive to the clips themselves so if anything goes wrong it should never harm the video clips in use.

Then you can play around with cutting them up, overlapping them, adding effects and then undoing the effects and starting again. Try right clicking on objects to see if that action brings up further options.

Even if someone is willing to tutor online with you they would need to have a starting point to work from so if you could start with what you can do, what you want to be able to do but as yet haven't found out how to do it, we may be able to help further. It may also help to know which time zone you are in.

Ray.

Hi Brian,

I suggest that you start with the second tutorial (Part 1 is installation) on the list in this thread and go through to the fifth one to get familiarized with the user interface and the jargon. Then we can talk.

Ray i was unsure how you respond to your help

i was trying to do a live project...say like a holiday video or a charity bike ride i was in

i got into difficulty by hitting a button and could not add a transition, i was so disgusted i lost the interest to use the product

i think i need to get small clips and just dabble and take the pressure off myself

since i wrote to you folks i added a holoiday video to the program and put on a header clip with a 10 second countdown

my holiday video of the maldives now on my nas using ple so it can be viewed by my distant family on their smart tvs

i will just start small and take notes

and ask simple questions in forum

thanks again

brian

Hi.

I know getting used to a new workflow can be overwhelming and frustrating but with programs this huge in capability and with many different ways of achieving the same goal being a possibility, it is difficult to show someone how to start if the person trying to give help doesn't know how much the person asking the question has picked up for themselves.

As well as Johns' videos there are a plethora of short videos by magix on this page. They are generally short bite sized videos.

Once you get up and running, even a small bit, I'm sure you will have more targeted questions for us that we will be happy to help with.
