Movie Studio 2023 NewBlue Essentials will not activate

I just purchased MS 2023, and the NB Essentials will not activate in the app. They show they are activated in the NB control panel, and the app takes the registration number and shows the correct NB Essentials Key. However, when using any of the NB Esentiails widgets, I get an X through the clip and a watermark. Of course, Magix does not respond to any support requests. Does anyone know what can be done about this?

There are a small number of users who have reported this problem and I believe it has been established that this is something that only NewBlue can resolve. Have you raised a Support Ticket with NB?

If it's any help to you, I too raised a ticket with NewBlue about 3 weeks ago for this same problem. The reply I had was that it's a Magix problem that they call The Magix Bug and that they are working on it.

I tried @Promidi's method and it worked.

I just received this email from Magix. It appears that this is a Magix software issue and will only be resolved with a patch or update. I will try the @Promidi workaround in the meantime and report back.

I think "slow send" would be more appropriate. This doesn't seem like a hard issue to fix as software bugs go.

Here is the response from NewBlue. I made a detailed screen video showing the problem. I will scrub it of the visible serial numbers and post it here when I get a minute.

I have to say I really can appreciate how thorough and well done that video was.  I'm a video editor so I really appreciated the effort you put in.  The zooms, the highlights, everything, so thank you!  
 
That being said you've made it very clear what's going on.  It's activating in the App Manager, says it's activated within MAGIX but the watermark still shows.  This is a known bug that our developers are actively working on and should be resolved soon.
 
I do, however, have a user that says the issue was resolved by the Magix team by doing a strange workaround to get it activated. They downloaded and installed a trial version of « Total FX », then open Magix Video Deluxe and Apply some of « Essential » plugins on a video to check if they were correctly activated. Then removed, the Trial of Total FX.
 
Give that a try first I think and if that doesn't work of course let me know, and we'll go from there okay?  Thanks so much.

I've had a reply from NewBlue. To complete this topic here is the reply:

"We've got a new version of Essentials 5 MAGIX edition to fix the activation bug.  Please run through these steps to reinstall for me please:

Run uninstallers for Essentials 5 Ultimate for MAGIX

Click Start and type Regedit, then run the app

Within Regedit, look under HKEY_CURRENT_USER > SOFTWARE, right-click NewBlue and select Delete

Next look under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE, right click NewBlue and select Delete

Re-install: https://www.newbluefx.com/downloads/Win/essentials/NewBlueEssentials5UltimateMagix-221202.exe

I tried it and it works for me although, to be honest, I'd already used @Promidi's method to install Essentials; I was hoping for a few more effects in the pack by way of an acknowledgment but it was in vain.

To be honest I didn't bother with the regedit bit as I thought it may remove the other NewBlue packs and I couldn't be bothered to reinstall them.
