Hi Garry.

Could you please have a look through this post to see what is required for us to help with technical inquiries please?

In the long run it can save us a lot of time and questions to get to a possible root cause.

Greetings, I've attached the MediaInfo data o n this video file. When I try to Export it, I get an error message and MS2020 will crash. Also, here is a screenshot of the settings for Export. I could not attach a .txt file so I did a screenshot (jpg) of the video section.

.

If you need more info, let me know... Gary

@Gary-Oddi

Thanks for the screenshots. Please also follow the link that @CubeAce gave and put the full spec of your computer in your signature; it really does help!

On an initial, very quick, read of the MediaInfo data and your export settings I see one major difference: the source video is 59.940 fps and your export is set to 29.97 fps. Ideally, you should always ensure that the frame rates of input and export match. By setting those different rates you are asking MS 2022 to remove half of all the frames in your video!

One further point: from the MI data I assume your footage is from a GoPro camera?  If so, these are known to cause problems. If you do a search on GoPro in these forums you will find a number of users who have experienced "difficulties", along with several possible solutions, I think.

Greetings,

Yes, I think these problems were with footage from a GoPro. I am just trying out MS2022 so I probably am making some mistakes. I didn't notice the difference in the FPS. But just strange that the program will freeze up and my PC will also freeze up. I'll check the setting for the FPS when I try an export again.

Thanks...

Gary

Greetings,

Just retried to Export Movie of a GoPro video clip. It did not go well. This time I chose 'Adjust' to, I think, let MS use the 59.94 fps. But when I tried to do the export, I got another error message. But it seems it did export the video which is is not smooth. It also, again, caused the program to freeze and my Firefox to quit. MS2020 is just not working well with my PC. Gary+

Please obscure the Device ID and Product ID codes from your system specs since these are unique to your computer and making them visible is to possibly invite hacking of your machine.

I have the exact same CPU as you, though with 32GB RAM and an NVidia Geforce GTX 1660TI GPU. If you can post a short section of your footage to a file-sharing site (and provide the link here) I'd like to test what happens for me!

Greetings Ray,

Yes, I was also sure the video clip was OK. It just seems that MS2022 is requiring too much resources...just a guess. I've never had such problems with editing video. The Export Movie function will produce errors, freeze my PC, affect my Firefox and even changed some shortcuts. When I try to do a screen capture, it does not want to function. Maybe it is just for GoPro videos, not sure. But I've never had so many problems...not good.

I'm actually joining a Zoom from my computer club in a few minutes and they are going to demo MS2020. I'll see what they say.

I used MEP Premium 2022 (the same program as MS 2022) to test your file and export it. No problem in the export. However, initial playback, (in both MEP itself and Cyberlink Power DVD) did show some "stuttering"; subsequent playbacks were fine (no idea why the difference!)

Hi Gid.

You can reject all cookies which is more than you can do on Google drive. There is no additional signing in to do. Their servers will look for malicious code. There is no way for anyone to get into that link or replace it to hack contents, I've used it for years. There is a similar site with a larger allowable upload which I don't trust at all.

@Gary-Oddi

Garry. I loaded the file into MEP 2022 and then cut it into four clips of varying lengths and re-ordered them in the timeline. That does produce a serious spike in my nvidia GPU if the video is left to cycle through.

Whether something similar happens without having an additional nvidia GPU I couldn't say. Whether something like that is causing the program to crash or trip out I also can't say. For such a small clip it loads tons of data to ram and the vram on my nvidia card. Neither GPU does much processing on export but both do some degree of 3D rendering during playback.

Note the spikes are random and do not necessarily match edit points. That is highly unusual. I don't know if this is a codec problem or a possible partial intermittent electronic failure in the Go-Pro. Neither seem that likely but I've seen stranger things from Go-Pros.

The other strange thing is on export, neither of my GPUs is doing any real work. That is also unusual. Normally I would expect something. The CPU and shared memory usage on the other hand is unusually high for such a low bit-rate file. Most of my MP4 camera files are over twice that size and the CPU barely ticks over.

I'm wondering if the audio portion is to blame. I don't come across the word QuickTime within the audio portion of a video file. In which case I would raise a ticket with Magix to inquire about the problem.

From my perspective it didn't produce any hiccups so not actually a bug as my system exceeds all the minimum requirements to run MEP 2022. The edited file and the original both played back fine.

So while I don't think it is a bug, there may be problems with your system not being quite powerful enough without the assistance of an nvidia card. Again I doubt it.

The alternative would be to try not to use the Intel GPU in the settings for export as it doesn't seem to be being pressed into service at my end anyway. See if that cures the freezing and crashing.

Also check you are running the latest Intel HD graphics driver which is currently Driver version 30.0.101.1340

Do not rely on Windows to tell you your graphics drivers are up to date. Go to the Intel site and use their online tool.

Ray.

@CubeAce Thanks, since they started asking permission for cookies i often don't 'Allow cookies' to view a page i open, i'll go to a different page that doesn't ask, so having to click a few buttons like in the OP's link i just don't go there, i'm not paranoid i just don't want to or can't be arsed 😂👍 I'm just becoming a grumpy old git 👴 I'll keep in mind what you say though, 👍

@Gary-Oddi I exported your vid 19 times in a few different formats HEVC & AVC, 3840x2160 & 1920x1080, 29.97 & 59.94fps, i didn't notice much difference except the playback was smooth like the orig at 59.95fps, at 29.97fps it had a slight stutter/jerking because of the lowered frame rate, so as was pointed out in the comments, when you do get this to export i'd recommend the 59.94fps option 👍👍

Greetings All,

I checked and my Intel graphics is up-to-date. I've got 16GBs of RAM. I just finished a Zoom demo of the MS2022 with my computer club. I was running MS2022 and Zoom to follow along with the demo. My PC crashed and had to reboot. I don't experience these problems with other programs. But I think I will just go back to my current slideshow program that never fails me. I can create slideshows with still images and video clips...and edit the video within this program. And frankly, this program I've been using, PTE AV Studio, is much easier to use in so many ways. I gave MS 2022 a try but it is just not working out for me. Just too many crashes and errors. You should give the PTE AV Studio a try...they have a trial version. Thanks for all your help. Gary
