The most common reason for this is that you are trying to use a plugin or effect that is, for some reason, unlicensed, i.e., you have not yet purchased it to use, or there is a problem with your licence being not "recognised".
So, are you trying to apply an effect or use a plugin on this footage? If so, which one?
I have a license for the “NewBlue Supreme Package” (which is a legacy package containing "New Blue Essentials") and the plugins seem to work perfectly in Movie Studio 2022, however, I get the red across when any of the “NewBlue Essentials” plugins are active.
Surely if “NewBlue Essentials” plugins appear in Movie Studio 2022 (and work perfectly in demo mode) this is simply a licensing issue? I feel that this is something that NewBlue / Magix need to fix.
@MartonITService Open the NewBlue Application Manager and check if they need to be activated. It's also possible that the Supreme package was limited to a particular earlier version of MEP/MS, in which case it may not activate in the current version.
If you cannot find the serial numbers for the Supreme Package in the emails - log in to your account at New Blue with the email address and password you originally used to register the effects - it does not matter if this email address is no longer used so long as you have the password.
Thank you for the replies. I know for a fact that the Essentials Package works with Movie Studio 2022. It is already activated in the application manager but I still see the watermark. New Blue are saying that i need to buy the full package again because "the Essentials package provided in the Supreme Package is incompatible with Movie Studio 2022". Magix are being unhelpful. Thanks
Was this the package offered with Vegas Studio 16 around 2019?
Did you keep the email? That would have the details and necessary codes needed.
Ray.
I already have all the codes and the email. The application manager is showing the Essentials Package as active yet I still see the watermark. Apparently some inconsistently or incompatibility between the supreme Package and Movie Studio 2022!
When additional software is a part of a program, it is licensed and supported for that version and will work in that particular version it was bought with.
If it also works in later versions, it's a "plus". But there is no guarantee that it will work. Nothing in the EULA says it will work in future versions of the software.
I had Ignite Pro 4 with Vegas Pro. It worked fine until the next version of Vegas came out. If you wanted Ignite Pro 4 to work within Vegas, you had to update to the 4.1 version. If you couldn't because you support ended (1 year), you had to buy it. I was still in the support year, so updated at no cost. Others had to pay if they wanted to continue to use it.
I had NBFX Cartoonr several years ago. It worked in the editing software it was available with, but later versions of the editing software it didn't work any more.

Thanks, appreciated Reyfox. I am sure that New Blue will reiterate this. It is just frustrating that the plug-in does actually work fine, but it is the licensing that isn't carrying over. You can't simply buy the Essentials Package again ( I have enquired about this and I would buy it if possible). New Blue have informed me that if I want the Essentials Package then I must purchase Essentials Ultimate which is 283 UKP (although they have offered us an educational discount).
. . . . Apparently some inconsistently or incompatibility between the supreme Package and Movie Studio 2022! . . . .
I suspect this is due to moving over to OFX format plugins only - NewBlue effects have 2 versions:
Plugin with separate interface
These versions do not work correctly and display the cross, in my case in black/white, with MEP 2022/Movie Studio 2022 and VPX 13 - they do work with earlier versions of these programs.
OFX plugin with integrated interface
These work correctly with MEP 2022/Movie Studio 2022 and VPX 13, and no 'watermark'.
I understand your frustration. The demos of software always work with some limitations. And of course we would like to use them "forever" with each upgrade. But, plugin developers are in the business to make money to continue developement.
A short while back, you could get MEP2022 with NBFX TotalFX 7 for $50 USD. Many bought that package deal even if they already had MEP2022 because in the cost of TotalFX7 was included. And since TFX7 was an OFX plugin, it worked in Video Pro X, Resolve, Vegas Pro, and Hitfilm Pro, all for the cost of $50. And TFX7 contained everything NBFX had. Yes, TP7 and transitions didn't work in MEP, but it worked in the other software. And you had all the Essentials, etc. in MEP working.
