Restart the computer - Windows button, Power, Restart - not shut down
Start MEP and see if it will close - if not use Task Manger to kill the process, right click the Task bar at the bottom of the desktop and select Task Manager, locate the Movie Edit Pro process on the Processes tab and End task
Restart the computer and MEP
Open the programs settings - Y key
On the System tab change the current state of the Hide news option, click OK
Close the program.
If the program still fails to close, end it using Task Manager and then:-
Using Windows Explorer, browse to the following folder
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro 2013 version name
Locate the file videodeluxe.iniand rename it, delete it or move it to another folder, whichever is your preferred option. This will be recreated, however it will lose any cusatom settings you have made eg changed folder locations.
Restart MEP and try closing it.
If the above fails then we need more information:
Computer specification - processor make/model, graphics card or chipset, RAM, hard drive configuration, sizes and free space?
Windows version and is it up to date?
Software full name and version number - as found under Help, About . . .
Did something change on the computer between the program closing correctly and then not closing?

Two things about your computer and software stand out to me as I read your post:
MEP 2013 is now a rather "old" version; the current one is five versions "newer".
You are running the 1709 version of Win 10. I would hazard a guess that the problem might have started since that update was installed?
I think the combination of these two facts might be the reason for MEP failing to close properly. If it is, and John EB's excellent recipe in his post has failed to cure the problem, as you say, you might wish to try the procedure outlined in this tutorial, or, perhaps better still, seriously consider updating to a more modern version of the software!
Hi emmrecs, thanks for reply and tutorial link, I followed this tutorial to the letter and found out Magix 2013 plus works fine after a fresh install until you run the update service, downloading the latest update for Magix 2013 plus is what seems to be stopping it from closing, is there anyway of just uninstalling the update or will it be a clean install again? Oh by the way is there anyway of downloading the update before the latest one...
