The ability to open VMS 17 projects in MMS 18 is being worked on but is not yet available. This is a quote from the MMS developers:

"Our development team is very determined to complete the full functionality that will allow you to import your VEGAS Movie Studio projects into the brand new Movie Studio 18. We will keep you updated."
