Movie Edit Pro MX Plus - Audio becoming out of sync on rendered movie from H264 sources.

fmorel wrote on 1/13/2013, 4:31 PM

I have exactly this same audio sync Issue as lebrunj1 reported in the forum, randomly happening over certain scenes created by editing (splitting, removing end, removing start), but not necessarily all the scenes in the whole movie; only some would end up with audio out of sync.

All my source files are H264 encoded, .M2TS format (HD) and with Dolby AC3 5.1 sound tracks.

I use "smar rendering" feature to avoid re-encoding, producing AVCHD DVDs.

However, my software is not quite exactly the same as MEP 17; it is Movie Edit Pro MX Plus and when I go in the Help, About, I get this as the version:  11.0.6.0 (UDC2)

Any known patch fixing the Issue ?

François.

Hi Francois

You are patched up to the latest version for MX.

Check you do not have the Automatically create frametable checked on the Audio/Video tab of the Program settings.  It should be unchecked.

This is known to cause issues with m2ts files.

Thanks John !

No, I did not have the Automatically create frametable checked on the Audio/Video tab of the Program settings. option checked.

So, if I have latest patch / version, there is indeed a software bug still existing.

I did report it, indirectly, via the Customer appreciation questionnaire MAGIX sent me; yet, is there another more direct bug reporting mechanism ?

François.

Hi

. . . . there is indeed a software bug still existing. . . .

Not necessarily, there could be a 'conflict' of codecs' - do you have any other file converters, video or audio editting software installed?

What is the source of the video files?

Also use GSpot or MediaInfo to check one of the video files and report back the results.  GSpot will also tell you if the required codecs are installed.

I have used MX from its initial release until the release of MEP 2013 and still do for checking user problems, with mts files from my  Sony XR520EV camera and had no issues with audio syncing.

Thanks again John !

Yes, I have Arcsoft TotalMedida Extreme installed.

Source of the .M2TS files are from the latter capturing via a HD PVR.

OK, I tried gSpot for some of my .M2TS files; I am not too sure where to look at, but I did not get any warning or severe message when opening my various .M2TS files regarding codecs or else.

Then I clicked on button labeled 1 :

gSpot is saying:

Render OK

Src-->>--(A)--->MainConcept MPEG Demultiplexer --> (B) MainConcept AVC/H.264 Video Decoder...

Src-->>--(A)--->MainConcept MPEG Demultiplexer --> (B) [AC3Filter]>--(C)-->[Default DirectSound Device ].

MediaInfo is saying:

Codec ID 27 with variable bit rate mode for the Video and Audio is AC-3 with Codec ID 129 384kbps delay relative to video of -100ms (nothing like I experienced, where dealy would be say about 1 second).

What makes me think there is still a bug out there in MEP, is that the scenes where I got this audio out of sync issues were extracted from the same original .M2TS file, thus all with the same codecs, etc.  I would go ahead and cut several scenes using split, remove start and/or remove end functions, say about a dozen from the same file, and suddently 1 or 2 out of this dozen would have the Issue once rendered to an AVCHD DVD.

Question, btw, there is the "Split" function and the "Split movie" function; what is the difference ?  I was always using "Split".

François.
