Movie Edit Pro Imporvement Requests and Feature Suggestions

I've been with Magix since MEP 11 on my old single core WindowsXP computer and now have MEP 17 on my new quad core, Windows7, HP Pavilion dv7 laptop. I generally like most things about the program, but one problem persists - the preview stutters. It plays for a fraction of a second, then hangs up for about as long, sometimes for as long as a second or more. I've tested trial versions of Adobe Premier Elements, Sony Vegas and AVS and all provide a smooth preview. I recently tried the trial version of MEP 18 MX, but found the same trouble with the movie preview. I am importing H264 type video from my camcorder at 1440x1080 in an MTS file container. In MEP's program settings, I have hardware acceleration turned on and the movie display set to half resolution.

I've started this topic in the hope that Magix designers or programmers will visit the forum from time to time and take note of such requests (or a moderator might pass it on to them?). Hopefully others will add their requests and recommendations so that Magix can be a good program that keeps getting better.

PLEASE FIX THE PREVIEW :-)

Hi,

You might try experimenting with the playback cache settings, which for me sometimes influence preview monitor performance significantly.

Terry is right. For me no cache works best.
