Hi

More information is needed:

  1. Is this a laptop or PC?

  2. If a laptop is the internal microphone turned on and its volume level not zero?

  3. Computer specification - please be specific ie details of processor make/model, RAM, Graphics card / chipset, Audio chipset, hard drive(s) size and configuration if more than one?

  4. Is MEP patched up to date?

  5. Is the souncard set to 'hear what you record' ?

Thanks John for you exacting answer.

It is a laptop. MEP was up to date. It is an older PC.

I got around the problem by using the 2013 version of MEP. There was still a blip at the start but it did not continue.  So I cleaned the main file I needed urgently and exported it as MPEG. It now works in MEP 2016. The audio goes blank briefly instead of the blip, but at least now the bulk of the audio can be heard.
