Movie Edit Pro 17 - Soundtrack creation and functions previously available

RayGuselli wrote on 1/10/2012, 7:41 AM

Hi,

Two problems for help with please.....

MAGIX SOUNDTRACK MAKER MOVIE EDIT PRO 17

I want to use the Magix Soundtrack Maker in Movie Edit Pro 17.  However, when I select it from Edit>Wizards etc, before I have a chance to select the style of music or to select which part of the movie it is to apply to, it seems to automatically create a soundtrack for the whole move.

I therefore want to be able to select the music from the choice available in previous versions of Magix and to put that music to selected parts of the movie....not in its entirety.

How do I do that please and/or am I doinf something wrong.

FUNCTIONS AND FACILITIES ON PREVIOUS VERSIONS

In my older version of Magix there were a number of great video effects, such as falling snow, a video of a christmas tree bauble and even a character sprinkling stardust to use in the movies....

There were also transitions which included effects in a gallery, where the image opened in a room and went to a laptop or a picture on the wall.

I cannot find these in the new version of magix....

Can anyone help please?

Really would appreciate some help.

Best wishes

Ray

Hi,

I have MEP17 and those all seem OK here. I can use the Soundtrack dialog. I can find and apply effects like those you describe. And I can apply transitions such as Gallery, Living Room, etc.

What was your "older version"?

Where in MEP17 are you looking for each of these and failing to find them?

Hi Terry

Many thanks for your reply...

My previous version was MEP14....

You have named exactly whatt appear to be missing..Gallery and Living room etc...

I am looking in fades but they do not appear to be there???

Could I ask where in yours they are please?

Also, the soundtrack dialog I cannot find other than in wizard....where it applies the soundtrack to the whole movie....

Am I looking in the wrong places perhaps?

Can you guide me please? Would be most grateful for any help.

Thanks again

Best wishes

Ray

Hi Terry

SDpoke to a ftriend with an earlier version of MEP (11) and he advised me to go to the folder tree.....

I eventually worked my way back through the tree and have found music and transitions etc....however, I still cannot find the stand alone soundtrack maker etc which allows me to chose a type of music and mood etc...

Any help please?

Thanks

Ray

Ah, so it's a friend who has the 'old version', not you?

Anyway, as it says in Help, the answer is Edit > Wizards > Soundtrack Maker or just press the 'W' key.

Thanks Terry...

Actually I too have an older version (14) and my friend has 11...

It is when I try as you say.....

Edit > Wizards > Soundtrack Maker

That instead of opening up the soundtrack maker and allowing adjustments to be made and music selected...it goes straight into mixing music etc and offering no options...

However, I am going to give it another try and see what happeneds....

Really do appreciate your help and perseverance...thanks so much

Best wishes

That does indeed sound very odd. I don't personally use this feature, but it does seem to work as I'd expect. As I understand you, you're saying the dialogue doesn't appear when you press the W key, and instead a finished piece of music is placed on the timeline, yes? And it covers the whole movie, not just whatever (blue) range you have selected, if any?

Have you yet tried File > Settings > Reset... ?

Another possible fix might be to close MEP, delete videodeluxe.ini (the larger size, if you have two files of thatname in different locations) then restart and let MEP recreate that file.

--------------------

Have you now found the "...character sprinkling stardust" in Effects > Design Elements > Intros/Outros > Christmas Intro ?

And Effects > Design Elements > Image Objects > Fun > Snow cloud ?

Hi Terry

Sorry for delay in replying...one of those really busy days at work!

I have found character sprinkling stardust" in Effects > Design Elements > Intros/Outros > Christmas Intro ?

And Effects > Design Elements > Image Objects > Fun > Snow cloud ?

However, in MEP 17, I have to go to folder view and work back up to that I think is called the parent directory for Magix and load from there........I am sure it was more easily accessible in previous version??? (May be wrong)

I am going to try onece more to get the soundtrack in the way you describe.....(I will save my project first) and then see what happens...

Will report back tomorrow once I have tried...

Just to say how much I appreciate your help...I am more of a photoshop person and have little problem there but find Magix a little confusing given its infrequent use...really need to learn it properly....May look on Youtube for tutorials....

Very best wishes and many thanks

Ray

Hi Ray,

Are you saying that those effects are not accessible as I've shown here:

Terry.....

You are an absolute gentleman!

That is precisely what I needed to see...got it now.

I really appreciate your help and am most appreciative of your time and perseverance.

I was simply not going far enough into the Magix program.

I do not know what was happening on my previous version but these effects seemed to be more easily to hand(perhaps I am imagining that given my inability to use the newer version properly!!!)

All I need to do now is to give the soundtrack feature another try which I will do shortly and let you know what happens...

Most importantly....MANY THANKS!

Very kind regards

Ray

(ps it made so much more sense to see when you showed it)

Hi Terry

Not sure what has happened but when I NOW press for the soundtrack wizard, it is coming up correctly and as before....

May I ask one final question please?

I recall in MEP14 that there was an intro which showed snow falling....I am not sure where that is...

It did not have anything else other than a beach scene underneath to show the effect but you could remove the beach whereby the snow efect fell only on the video you were editing...

Any ideas what or where that might be please in MEP17?

Many thanks again for all your help...very kind and much appreciated.

Best wishes

Ray

Hi Terry

My apologies....My fault...not sure what I was doing but the screenshot you have now provided is where I wanted to be....sincere apologies for the confusion...my fault.

Looks like you have directed me to the areas I need to be and would like to say many thanks indeed. Really appreciate your help....also apologies for my lack of understanding but I rarely use Magix and have lost touch with it...I am going to learn!

With kind regards

Ray
