MMP 2014 is unstable

I purchased Music Maker 2013, which worked fine after I installed it from the CD,
then I upgraded to Music Maker 2014 Premium which I downloaded from the website.
Music Maker 2014 Premium [MMP] works OK until I use it on a new project for
awhile, but after the file gets larger due to more tracks, editing, adding
effects, etc., it slows way down, the red line does not move across the tracks,
then freezes up. It also uses up a large amount of my system memory.
I have noticed that the MM files get quite large, and take a while to load up each
project, and a red bar across the bottom comes up and says ''preloading'' each
time I click the ''play'' button. Some of the files are 1.95 GB for the master
file and with all of supporting .wav, .hdp and .ho files.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? It is NOT my computer, which has 4GB of memory, a 2.5 GH dual core processor, and I have no problem with any other program on my computer. I have ran every computer hardware and software diagnostics possible.

Thanks for any help.

Some of the issues you are experiencing seem to come up on a regular basis.  However, we almost never get the full story from the poster, so we never really get a complete picture.

Your computer seems to be "adequate" at best.  The big question is just how large are your arrangements?

If you've got 50 tracks that all run for 20 minutes, you're likely to have problems.  And, if you are using a large number of effects running in real time, you're likely to have issues as well.

Make sure you are not running ANY other applications at the same time as MMM.  Also, you may want to unplug from the net and shut off your anti-virus program to see if that may be causing problems. (Just remember to turn it back on before reconnecting to the internet.)

If you're running a more recent version of windows (you didn't say), it may be using up to 2 GB of RAM all by itself.  That would leave you with only 2 GB for running MMM.

Also, if you don't have two hard drives, I highly recommend it.  That way you can load the soundpools on the second drive while the boot drive can concentrate on running the program.  I have been told solid state hard drives (SSD) can dramatically improve performance (with a possibly shorter life span).  A Raid 0 or Raid 10 set-up may also increase access speeds.

Not knowing your work, are yu using a lot of the additional features from MM Premium ? that aren't on MM2013 ?

If not, you might try using 2013 to run your work and see if  it performs better...that is assuming you haven't deleted 2013.  i and Procyon and others read these postings almost evvery day and  do not recall a similar complaint susch as yours.  If you are running such big files and using a lot of the avalible features I would asume you were doing the same, more or less, with 2013.....it would seem to me, thata your are an above averagae user.
What have you done to try and solve   your issues....this way you will not get redundant ideas from us, but hopefully new suggestions.

I know that when you buy the Premium versions, you get so much more to "experiment" with, but remember there was onlly one Phil Spector and his wall of sound, so oft' times,, more is not better.  Like in my prior post, you appeaar to be a compitent user...good for you.  My advice to  you is to make sure you DELETE all old Magix stuff, even 2013 before you load your disc.  I believe athe disc will just contain tahe basic program and you will still hava to go on line to download  alll the "trick" featurres.  Let me know how you make out, you can send me a post direct.  Good Luck .
