MMM 2020 Premium doesn't work offline

imexenergy wrote on 9/4/2019, 1:56 AM

Hello to all! Recently I upgraded my old MMM 2013 with MMM 2020. Having downloaded everything from Magix Store I found that the new MMM gives me only 8 tracks without connecting to my account in Magix, old projects (more than 8 tracks) cannot load, also the AM Truck SE plug-in cannot load (important plugin). After login all tracks are unlimited. I cannot work offline with MMM 2020 Premium?

@imexenergy

Welcome to the Magix forums.

I know that MM 2020, in line with all recent versions of Magix software, goes on-line when initially started, presumably to verify the user's licence and to check for any updates to the software. I don't think there is any way to avoid this, but have you tried allowing it to initially connect and then take your computer off-line once the app is fully loaded (I have no idea whether this is possible)?

I have to ask: is there any particular reason why you should want MM to be able to work off-line?

Jeff

Thanks Jeff for reply. Of course I tried, and so and so ... With my old MMM 2013  I work with the Internet turned off and closed programs, the program is good, but sometimes naughty :) It is sad that the new MMM works only in the on-line algorithm. If no Internet at  moment? In the description of MMM 2020 Premium it is said that Internet connection is necessary for registration and validation. So, instead product only the right to use the product via on-line :) This does not suit me.

Thanks again for the quick reply and all the best.

Hi

. . . . It is sad that the new MMM works only in the on-line algorithm. . . .

The program does not work 'online' only, it does work when offline, eg you are roaming and have no Internet for a while ie the period of working offline is limited as it must 'phone home' once per month for a licence/activation check.

I suspect you may have been offline too long and are outside this period, as you are getting the nag screen about activation on starting MMM, and AFAIK, reverts to the Basic version functionality until the next connection to the Internet.

Additionally, AFAICS and I may be corrected on this, you must be logged in to the Store when you close MMM while online and before going offline..

Hi,

I just tried MMM offline. I see my email address at the top right indicating that I am logged in, so I can only assume that this means that MMM has validated that everything that has been activated will work. I did check to make sure that my laptop was definitely offline.

When you are offline and start MMM, do you see your email address at the top right?

What version of MMM do you have (see under Help, About Music Maker)? The latest is 28.0.1.19.

Did you make sure that everything is installed under the Download button that will appear at the top right of the Media Pool if there is something to download and install? Some of the features, etc., will download but you actually have to click on Install in the Download Manager.

Can you go into the Project Settings (not Program Settings) and select more tracks, like 16 or 32 when you are online? Offline?

I have no trouble opening AM Track SE and AM Track offline on an object.

Thanks friends for support! Everything is activated. There are no problems when I logged to my Magix account everything works, but when I'm not in the account the MMM 2020 opens as 8 tracks version, impossible to work with it, need log into the account (!). After login, all features of  Premium edition again appear. Its meaning that all working process with Premium version should be via internet. I dont like this idea and want have this MMM Premium in my laptop "by physically" as whole program, I dont want depended from internet availability or Magix control.

@imexenergy

Please re-read my message and answer the questions. MMM works fine off-line for me as I indicated.

John thank you, I read your previous post, so I answered. Now, please do the following: 1) Open MMM 2020 Premium (if you have this version), log out from your Magix account and close the program. 2) Click on your old project (which contain more than 8 tracks + contain old plugin AM Track SE).
You will see the following messages (last screen concerning install Neutrino):

Hi

. . . . 1) Open MMM 2020 Premium (if you have this version), log out from your Magix account and close the program. . . . . .

I will amend the last sentence of my post above ie:

. . . . you must be logged in to the Store when you close MMM while online and before going offline ...... and not log out while offline . . . .
