MM Premium detects another version, but there is not another version.

promytius1 wrote on 12/26/2021, 11:50 AM

I have these installed: Movie Edit Pro Premium, Photostory Deluxe, Samplitude Music Studio, Travel Maps.

Every time I try to install MM Premium Ed 2021, it fails, it says there's another version (doesn't say which) and an error window says it can't find the temp file in my user file that it thinks there's supposed to be something.

I've searched all combinations of MUSIC MAKER, *music*.*, etc., and cannot find on C: drive or all the other drives any instance of Music Maker executable files.or that name. There is a backup on a storage drive of some older magix files, but no executables or with that name.

What can I do to reinstall MM Premium? I haven't used it in a while and want to get back into it.

Thanks for any responses.

Hi

Sounds like you have a failed or partial install/un-install.

Download this Microsoft troubleshooter and run it work through the dialogs, you may need to run it twice once for install and the second time for uninstall.

Hi,

Every time I try to install MM Premium Ed 2021

You cannot install MM Premium Edition because it is not a program. You can only install Music Maker which is the program. The current version is 2022, so you may be trying to install MM 2022. If you are using the link from an email from Magix that gives you the serial number for Premium Edition 2021, that link is for the program, which is free for everyone. It is possible that you are trying to install MM2021 but somehow have 2022 on your computer.

Go into Windows Settings Apps and check for Music Maker.

This is where the 64 bit version of Music Maker gets installed:

C:\Program Files\MAGIX\Music Maker

Do you have this folder?

Once you have Music Maker installed, you can activate your serial number for 2021 Premium Edition, even in Music Maker 2022. Then, you download and install everything from the Downloads tab within the program.

Thanks for the replies! browj2's advice led the way! I tried to download the free Music Maker, and it worked perfectly, no errors. I ran the install, and opened it, and it asked me to login in, and that all worked!

Then I looked over, and there were all my downloaded collections! All the instruments, all the add-ons I had in my library before! :)

Thank you, it's a great holiday gift!
