Missing "Write CD Text" check box

Sound Forge 14.0 - new installation

The box to "Write CD Text" is completely missing. My CD burner supports it. All the CD Text information is filled in from Album title to Artist to Track Title. I can do this in CD Architect 5.2d but not in this version.

The manual says this option should be there.

I see a prior post with the same issue in version 13 but there is no answer to it.

Thoughts?

Welcome to the Sound Forge forum discussion group @Marshall-Copeman

Assuming you have the AS (Audio Studio) version (which I am not very familiar with. Based on Sound Forge Pro, there are two Audio CD burning options, "Track-at-Once" (TAO) and Disc-at-Once (DAO). Track-at-Once does not support CD text.
TAO discs are also not Red Book compliant and may not play in some CD players.

Good thought but I am definitely doing a Disc-at-Once as this is an album of songs the group I'm with recorded. I thought maybe it might include it automatically so I mastered the disc and played it in my car system which always shows CD Text and it wasn't there. For this disc I'll go back to CD Architect 5.2 as I know it works and need to get the CD's produced here in the next couple of days.

I have some problems using Disc-at-Once with two Magix products. When I select DAO on SoundForge Audio Studio 14.0 (build 86), the CD Text button does not appear. On another computer with SoundForge Pro 14.0 (build 130), the CD Text button appears. However, when using the "test first, then burn" option the SF Pro 14.0 completes the test, but halts with this error: "The disc in the drive is a read only disc" right after the test passes and before the CD burn starts. Fortunately, SF Pro 14.0 completes the DAO (with CD Text) burn properly when the "Burn CDs" option (no test) is selected. My CD Architect 5.2d (Build 240) works as expected, similar to Marshall-Copeman's post.

As I stated in other comments, many audio CD players (hardware and software) do not support displaying metadata (CD text).

True, I don't disagree with what you wrote. However, on the same computer DAO on SFAS 15.0 (build 47) does not show the CD Text option box, nor does it burn CD Text. SF 14.0 Pro (build 130) does burn CD Text (same computer). CD Architect 5.2d (Build 240) does burn CD Text (same computer). In all case, I have typed the required text into the "CD Information" and "Track List" boxes. Seems to me the "Burn Disc-at-Once Audio CD popup menu" is looking for something we are not providing. The CD Text is a major requirement for me and my clients.

On my PC, the latest build of Pro 14 has a CD Text check-box. Have you entered the text info in "View> Metadata> CD information and Track list"

Otherwise, use CD Arc.

@Morris-Sadicario

I think this is another situation where Sound Forge Audio Studio lacks a facility that Sound Forge Pro offers.

Thank you. There is a better solution for me. I will call customer service on Monday and to 'return' the Audio Studio I purchased on 11 Feb for credit to use toward an SF Pro upgrade to one of my older SF Pro versions. I think it might be better if the CD Text feature were not included in the user guide for the Audio Studio if/until it becomes available.

btw, Sound Forge Pro 15 will be published very soon. Ask Magix if they can upgrade you to that when it is available.

Pop up offer now appearing when opening SFP14 to upgrade to SFP15 for $99.00 USD until the end of the month - it's to be released in March.

Thanks all for your comments. Just to close this out, while the Audio Studio said it did CD-TEXT it actually didn't... for some reason. No real reason was given but Magix offered a reasonable upgrade path to correct the issue as the Pro version CD-TEXT capability did work.
