The Independence engine of your instrument thinks for some reason that your instrument isn't licensed. That's why it shows that it cannot open the sound files. Did you try to uninstall the instrument via the Windows control panel like you can uninstall any other Windows software?

@Sid-Aguirre

Hi and welcome to the forum.

We need more information:-

  1. Which variant of Music Maker are you using - Free, Plus or Premium?

  2. What is the version number as found under Help, About?

  3. Have you installed all the Extra content - Plus and Premium versions only?

  4. Do you see the Electric Bass instrument showing the same text as circled in the image below?

  5. If you cancel the pop-up dialog does the instrument load correctly as shown in the image and do you see the indicated text?

- Music Maker Plus Edition (2020)

-Version 28.0.3.51

I have installed everything

Do you see the Electric Bass instrument showing the same text as circled in the image below?

If you cancel the pop-up dialog does the instrument load correctly as shown in the image and do you see the indicated text? The instrument loads when I cancel the error message but plays no sound, either with my keylab or mouse clicking the screen keyboard.

Hi

Apologies my assumption was you had version 2021 which is the new 64 bit version - my bad - you will not see the text I indicated in the image I posted as 2020 is a 32 bit program.

Referencing the image below:

  1. Open Windows File Explorer and browse to the folder

    C:\Users\Public\Documents\MAGIX\Common\MxSynth\Electric Bass

  2. Make a backup copy of the setting.cfg file (2) to another folder - you may not see the .cfg part of the filename if File Explorer is not set to show file extensions

Open the file (2) in a basic text editor - right click and select Open - the file should open in Notepad - if asked which program to use, select Notepad

  3. Check the line indicated at (3) is the same as that at (1)

If it is not then make it the same as (1) and save the file.

Try the Electric Bass again

HTH

Thank you John, I made sure the settings file was correct once I opened it in word, however I get the same results. I re installed everything and its the same, every other instrument works except the Bass. Does the same thing in Acid Pro. so it isn't something confined to Music Maker. wish there was a way to uninstall the Instrument and re acquire it.... Is there a way to manually do this?

Hi

. . . . I made sure the settings file was correct once I opened it in word. . .

Does that mean the file path was correct when you opened the file?

When editing files that contain configuration information never use Word - they should be opened only in the simplest of editors - ie Notepad, or my preferred editor Notepad++, that way they do not inadvertently get any formatting saved with them that could cause more issues.
