MIDI Keyboard Sensitivity

robrut14 wrote on 12/20/2015, 3:08 PM

Is it possible to adjust the sensitivity of the keys on my MIDI keyboard within the Magix Music Maker program? By this I mean asjust how loud each note is depending on how hard or soft I hit the piano keys (velocity).

Thanks in advance for any help!

P.S I am currently using Music Maker 17 Premium if that makes a difference.

Hi,

After you have made your sample, the same way you access the VST editor is the same way you access the velocity controller, as well as many other important features of the MiDi.

First, make your sample

Double click on your sample to open the Keyboard controller. There you will find the velocity controller (I have circled it for you in the screenshot)

Let me know if you need anymore help

Ok great that helps. Is there a way to adjust it while actually recording and hearing the live playback? Or not?

I am not sure if there is - I make a beat using the midi editor in a point and click fashion with the velocity editor always open, adjusting it as I "click" the notes/chords in, so I haven't tried to do that before.... I can't play the piano IRL.

Guitar - That's a different story...

So sorry I couldn't help you with that

Hi,

Here is a screen shot showing the velocity part. You can modify everything using the drawing tools at the bottom left. You can selectively do this by selecting a note on the left keyboard, and only the velocity of that note will show up. Or you can select a single event (note played). Zooming in helps as the bars are quite narrow.

If your keyboard is touch sensitive, then this information is recorded as the velocity. If you have a sustain pedal, that is also recorded. Open the checkbox at the lower left of the screen to see the other options that can be controlled. The footpedal is #64.

What about the control of the keyboard itself? I do not want to edit every each notes on the screen while I have a touch sensitive keyboard. From what I see, midi keyboard is very narrow in music maker in comparison to other programs. Which is making me hesitate if it was a good step to buy the premium version.

@Darek-Jas Your MIDI controller should have settings were you can adjust the velocity if you don't like the current settings. If your controller cannot do this, there is no other way in Music Maker than editing the velocity after recording via the MIDI editor.
