Microphone not recording

littlel wrote on 1/16/2015, 11:35 AM

Hi All

I am new to Magix and have a problem that is really weird!

I am using a windows 7 Laptop and a Xynxy Q502USB. The computer is seeing the USB mixer and the music is coming through the headphones and is adjustable.

I have disabled the onboard mic and speakers! Can hear the music fine but the microphone is not coming through the headphones. Phantom Mic functioning fine phantom button on!

Have tried every setting! Don't understand that the music is coming through fine but the Mic is dead....like nothing! Any advise?

Please :)

Regards Lesley

What if your Music maker version?

No doubt your Behringer Xenyx 502 is great and the problem you are facing could be due to some settings. First check that you have properly set the Mixer. Refer a short video may be it will help you.

Hope you have also read Behringer's help manual regarding Microphones and line input

Next in the Music Maker Program settings confirm if everything is fine or not.

You can also refer a tutorial may be it will help you.

Hi Nihon

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately that video is regarding a normal mixer. Mine has USB connection.its really bizar. I connect via headphones or speakers and I can hear the music fine. If I go through a different speaker cables and mics are fine. As soon as I go USB and pc I can't record or hear the mic. Any suggestions.

Hi

This sounds like an issue with the Behringer or the audio chain in the unit has not been set correctly for the mic.

Have you tried a dynamic, instead of a phantom powered, mic?

I would suggest you also post in the Behringer forums if you have not already done so.

Hi Lesley,

I think that your mixer works like mine. You should be hearing the mic directly through the mixer and not coming back from the computer. The lower right mixer control should go from direct to USB, so you should have it set about half way.

You say that you can't monitor the mic when connected to the USB port, but can you at least record from the mic to the computer?

Which ASIO driver are you using?

What are your audio settings? Could you give us a screen shot?

Hi

In addition to John CB's question (his post triggered this thought) -

. . . . Can hear the music fine but the microphone is not coming through the headphones . . . .

Where are the headphones plugged in - the computer or the mixer?

Music from where - the mixer or playback of MMM timeline?
