Microphone and Midi keyboard

I'm trying to record all original music and just keep having problems.  I have a midi-keyboard that hooks up just fine (or at least it was).  I also have a microphone that hooks up to my laptop through a usb cable.  Here's the problems:

At first the Keyboard recorded...all seemed to be fine, until it played back on the keyboard but did not record a track that I could play without my keyboard being hooked up to the laptop.  Then I changed something and now it won't even playback on my keyboard or through the program.  It says it's recording, but it doesn't appear to be.

Secondly, my microphone.  I can't record with it at all.  I can't seem to find a way to choose the microphone as being able to import the sound (don't know it that's the right terminology or not).    The microphone is a Audio-Technica AT2020 USB Condenser USB Microphone.  I've used this mic before to record just talking on another program and it worked fine...just can't figure out how it's supposed to hook into magix music maker.

I am trying out magix music maker to see if it is a program that can meet my needs....but so far it's just complicated and I can't seem to figure it out.  And any time I try to change something according to a help thing I create another problem.  So any help would be appreciated.

Well, first of all, it would be helpful if you told us the make and model of your keyboard, how you've hooked it up (the connections), and what you're trying to record (audio or MIDI).

Secondly, unless you have an audio interface capable of recording multiple inputs, it's likely your laptop computer can record only one device at a time.  You must select the "Recording Input Device" (microphone, keyboard, etc.) in MMM or in the Sound area of Windows Control Panel.

well my computer is a dell studio it use to work for both the microphone and midi, I was able to do it all with my 2006 magix music maker deLuxe with the two cd disc. I'm still looking for it. since I couldnt' find it I got this stupid 2015 magix music maker, I have nothing but problems with. it does not  have any of the features I'm use to using and has become more complex and has been nothing but trouble. my question is even when I have one device plugged in. not only did my asio dissapear but the computer won't work with my mic, and when it does it will record the vocals but you cant hear playback while recording. and the midi wont show up in the input section of the settings. I wish magix would bring back the deLux 2006 version I've done most my music on there and was able to run my studio so much easier since I moved and lost the program, Ive had to shut down my studio until further notice. and who knows when that will be cause I still cant get the program to work properly
