MEP17+HD sound tracks got out of whack, help!

starosta wrote on 11/12/2012, 6:03 PM

I’m not sure exactly how this happened, but after some objects moved around on the timeline, with some collisions, the sound tracks got out of whack on some of my video objects.  How can I get these back “in sync” with the video track?

I tried ungrouping but that did not release the audio track.  It is locked in place with the video track, but out of whack as seen below.

Of course I could re-import the video clips, but some of these have more work in them than just that - they have stereo alignments in them, and they are clipped excerpts of much larger video files.

thanks

Boris

Hi Boris,

Faced with three closely-spaced problems that smack of instability or corruption of some sort, my inclination would be to distance myself and MEP as far away as possible from that particular project.

Do you have a recent MV_ backup file you can try? A recent and reliable backup of Videodeluxe.ini to replace the current one? Can you make a series of 'sub-projects' from the problematic one (perhaps successively halving them to accelerate isolation), saving each independently and testing methodically. At the very least that might deliver one or several such sections that work properly and contain your enriched source material for subsequent import, minimising rework.

Needeless to say, all this after a PC reboot (and more spring cleaning if you suspect other causes, with evidence from other applications or devices).

That is very strange...

You already did what I would have suggested, and that is to ungroup. In the illustration you attached to the message they are still grouped... all four objects. When you click the 'Ungroup' Icon, what exactly happens?

I am curious to see if all four tracks when selected again (after the ungroup) are highlighted as if they are grouped still.

In all my years using MEP, I have never encountered this, but I have had several alighment issues that usually were fixed with the ungroup icon.  I am wondering what a duplication of that object would result in. if you press the (D) key, it would duplicate the selected object. I am wondering if that would allow the audio to be aligned.

Otherwise, Terry has probably given the best advice.

Hi Boris

As Terry has said three different problems is too much like coincidence, however it may not be the software !.

An obscure possiblity is that your mouse if going or gone faulty.  I would suggest trying a different mouse.

Gentlemen.  The tracks were ungrouped (I just happened to have them all selected at time of screengrab).  Ungrouping them did not help release the sound track.

I shut down MEP, restarted it, reopened the file and the problem was still there (so it was not an issue of faulty rendering of the MVP data).

I opened a recent backup file that I had made, and thankfully the objects in the backup were not affected and my work was saved.
