Hi, it's been a while since i used MEP Premium but preview rendered this 4k project to help it play better but it's ignored the crossfades, Is this expected?
This could be system specific but when I do a pre-render straight forward rendering tends to be mainly done with the Intel GPU and switches to the nvidia card when it gets more complex. This also happens for playback of those sections even though the GPU settings are all nvidia.
I can also get differing results depending on the Windows GPU settings for MEP. At present I'm back with the Power Saving option That seems to work best for me at present.

@CubeAce Hi & thanks Ray, I can't find Preview rendering settings like your error suggests? 🤷♂️
@johnebaker The dark side 😂 Hi, yep all drivers are up to date, I got an update for Premium, i exported 25mins of 4k in 5.41mins 👍👍👍 Vegas took 14mins 👎🤣 so i thought i'd give this project a go,,
It's someone elses 5k footage, some of the clips are rotated, most are reduced speed to 0.50%, & at the end there's one clip that is sped up to 4.00%,
In Vegas it doesn't play well unless set to Preview- Auto, so that's a very poor preview image & when rendering it really struggles to get past 26% where the first rotated event is, a few people have tried it & those with less powerful machines Vegas freezes solid or crashes, mine & someone elses powers through those bits (slowly) then at 85% it completely locks up, I never got a full render unless i reduced render from ProRes 422 to MP4 4k, That's one work-around reducing render res, or as people suggested to pre-render the files but finding a work-around wasn't the object of the exercise.
So after the triumph of MEP playing 4k crossfades flawlessly & exporting the 25mins 4k in 5½mins i thought i'd try this project, yes it will play (without Proxy or the lightening symbol, reduce resolution etc. turned on👍), the crossfades no prob except one at the end where it goes from a reduced 0.50% speed 90º rotated image, through a crossfade to a speeded up to 4.00% unrotated landscape event, it falters just a fraction, I was also curious though to see how fast it would prerender 🤔
This is where it struggles just that bit.
I created another post about the 4k render, got to be honest i'm quite impressed, 👍

@CubeAce I don't have Graphics settings power set at all for MEP, I haven't added it. 🤷♂️

Vegas struggles with HEVC, i don't use it but MEP seems to handle it fairly well.
If you were to export this without loosing res which format would you use, the owner wanted to render @ ProRes 422 in Vegas but MEP doesn't have that. 🧐👴🙃
@CubeAce Hi, yes i did, thanks i'll get back to it later, I've been neglecting work, i've got 4 wardrobes to draw & price, & this morning got caught up playing with Cartoonr 🤣🤷♂️
I tried the HEVC option myself as I have in the past stuck to MP4 exporting and my concerns mentioned were unfounded. Export quality was excellent as was the export time. Playback was easy and not as processor intensive as I had feared.

@CubeAce Hi, i think i followed your msg, some thing looks a little different 5.0 is 6.2
This is the project.
The orig files are 5k 5312x2988 59.94, i just went with 4096x2160, in the orig trials in Vegas he/we were trying to render @ ProRes 3840x2160 422 Proxy, 59.94
This is how it went, Proxies were already created from 1st time i imported, but it doesn't take long to create. HEVC 4096x2160, 59.94 av bit rate 90,000 Best, exported in 2.40mins-ish

Interesting, i tried it again, doing exactly the same as above but this time i manually put the setting to the same as the media 5312x2988, it exported in about 3mins 👍 but it ignored the crossfades 🤷♂️ (there's no prerender on this that could be getting in there somehow)
This doesn't bother me tho, I'm prob never going to be exporting at that size & i'd use the size that works 😉🙃🤷♂️🕺
Did it ignore all the cross fades or only the portrait ones?
Prerender files are not used in exports nor are any proxy files.
As long as you are happy with the export quality vs the original recordings. In theory the export should be a direct copy of each frame minus and compression the codec applies if any at that resolution setting. Certainly my exports come as close as I can get to the original files I use. Mileage may vary as they say.
Others have recently complained about MEP 2022 and VPX importing files with 'Interpolate intermediate images' being applied on importing of clips as standard ruining the sharpness of clips both in playback within MEP and on exporting such clips within a project. I have not somehow seemed not to have suffered this but may be worth checking at your end.
Hi Ray, it is all crossfades it ignore when changed to 5312x2988, the ones in the short clip i posted aren't rotated or portrait. Yep i know Prerender files are not used in exports nor are any proxy files, i just threw that in because of the main title of this post 👍
The 4096x2160 one was spot on 👍
I've kept MEP updated with each year & I'm very happy, quite impressed by the speed of export with this & the 25min 4k it did in 5mins, so i think i'll be back using this more often, my YT vids are only simple clips with a crossfade & i miss in Vegas not being able to apply the same transition & length to all events with a couple of clicks,
I'll let you know about the 'Interpolate intermediate images' or anything else as time goes by 👍
Thanks.

I just tried the prerender on some 4k 3840x2160 footage & it works fine, must be that 5312x2988 it doesn't like 🤷♂️ that's fine by me 👍
I'm not surprise with your export time results with your setup. With my setup and a similar export I'm just under half the time it takes to play a project to be able to render it. What does also surprise me is you get some judder on playback with such a straightforward project. I do suffer the same but only where the project is dealing with more than a few things at once. I am suspecting a bottleneck in the speed available in the motherboard ram.
I am running 3200MHz ram but the CPU can only run it at 2113MHz. I notice your ram speed is close to mine so I'm wondering if that is the cause.
I am only coming to this conclusion by visual inspection of Task Manager and the delay within what I see in MEP.
For instance, if I'm playing a complex Template consisting of nine parts or more running in parallel. the image will temporarily freeze and not show the whole template rendering. During that time the motherboard ram increases by more than 2GB. I see this.
If at that point I press stop, the motherboard ram in use drops over a second or two by the two GBs and then the image on the monitor changes to what I should see.
I don't think that is a coincidence.

@CubeAce Ram hmm I've £900 of 3200 ram sitting next to me, i bought it but didn't check the specs properly of my motherboard, it doesn't work, the Bios defaults to 2400 & won't boot if i try to up it, so i'm stuck with the 2667
This is my motherboard, if you look under 'Size' 8x32GB the fastest it shows is 2666, which is what i have, if i'd checked this before i wouldn't have £900 of non-refundable ram 🤣🤣🤦♂️🤷♂️🤣
judder on playback i think is that 5312x2988 project, on 4k 3840x2160 it's smooth play & crossfades,

What is that you have, a collage template? I never use those 🤷♂️.
