MEP Plugins

I've never really properly understood how to install, manage and apply plug-ins. If anyone has a good grasp of the subject then I'd appreciate a conversation please.

For a start how about the two queries illustrated here?

What are the full names of those two paths? And what is the correct path for VirtualDub filters?

Also, I had a long list of NewBlue effects stuff appearing at some stage in MEP 2013, sorry to be a bit vague. But all of them were useless as they were the residue from a trial and results carried a watermark. I seem to have got rid of them by externally moving them to a subfolder:

But  what was the correct way to delete those?

Edit: On that New Blue issue, I moved them back out of the subfolder and you can now see that they appear as options. But according to the dialog, they're not installed?

Hi Terry.

Can't answer all your questions since I'm not able to access either MEP or VPX at the moment but in terms of the VirtualDub filters you need to point MEP to the exact folder that contains the plugs.  In your case I suspect it is C:\Program Files\VirtualDub-1.9.8\Plugins32.  Certainly on my system that gives direct access to the VD plugs.

BTW, did you know that VDub is now at 1.10.2?

Thanks Jeff. I reckon that is my location too.

And also for the reminder about VDub. I don't use it much these days. I see that 1.10.2 is 'experimental' but I'll download 1.9.11 right now.

Edit:  As you see from this composite screenshot the only file in the C:\Program Files\VirtualDub-1.9.11\plugins folder is readme.txt which seems to say I should place VDF files there. Is that right? What about those VDPLUGIN files and the Plugins32 folder?

Hi Terry.

What I did was simply to move ALL the files in the "Plugins" folder of any earlier version of VDub to the "Plugins" folder of the later (est) version.  They seem to work in the new version without any problem, and can even be safely deleted from the older version.  The only other thing to remember is to ensure that MEP/VPX is "looking at" the correct version of VDub by editing the path to the plugins folder which we discussed in the first post and my reply.
