I suppose age is a factor in the occasional difficulty I have in reading it after a few hours at the PC. But I'm darned if I can understand the thinking of whoever chose grey text on a grey background!
The only rider I would add to my comment is that both my screens are colour corrected and profiled which makes quite a difference in how colour contrasts are perceived.
My main monitor for the program is 1920 x 1080 and the Overview text is 2mm high with no zoom applied - to give you an idea of the relative size, this text - aeiou - is 1.7mm high on my screen - which is quite small.
First camping, now domestic chores - old house problems - fix toilet, change upstairs piping, yardwork, little Magix. I need some magic.
I agree that the text is hard to read, but when you click on a scene in Scene mode, the background goes to a bluish colour and the text is black. Is that any easier to read?
Magix has a new look for VPX7 and maybe they will use it in MEP2016. The text is still small but is not grey on grey as you can see below; it's light grey on dark blue. Clicking on a scene puts black text on a medium blue background.
Here is a shot of the default VPX7 screen, which I like a lot. Normally, I have the Preview monitor on a second screen and the Folders at the top between the source monitor and the media pool.
Interestingly, VPX7 no longer has a Storyboard button, but it can be accessed by going into Basic mode, and Magix does not recommend using it.
Did you mean to send another screenshot? I see only two.
I have no problem with the Storyboard, just the Overview as you see from my original comparison. I'm using it a bit more now to improve my preparatory work (deletions, re-sequencing, etc). I've tended in the past to use the timeline exclusively, rushing into detailed editing before I should!
Another problem with filename visibility in the timeline is that you can, of course, only see it if you have relatively few objects in view, otherwise the objects are too short. I switch on Size/Position instead (hotkey in my case is NumPad +, right next to the mouse).
I'm glad you're around. I was just about to compose a query I have about audio clips, hoping to hear from you or John EB as the resident audio experts. I'll do it right now.
But don't let it change your priorities: fixing toilets comes high on the list.
I meant to post another screen shot but got messed up somewhere between the text and the toilet.
Here is a shot of VPX7 setup - not the one that I normally use. Note the Folder view at the bottom right. This can be quite useful and it has fields with properties and you can put in a description.
For more clarity. The bottom zoom slider makes the icon images larger, but not the text. At least I can see the entire filename when I zoom in, and it is clearer in VPX7 than in MEP2014.
Nothing new above.
You are right about the Storyboard and Scene Overview. I had never used them much until I started doing the tutorial and realized that I should have been using them more often at the beginning, just to see where I'm going.
