MEP-17 When recording from Analog Video input MEP17 SHUTS DOWN after 20 minutes

First time user MEP17. Hook-ups, video, rercording, editingg etc all work ok. PROBLEM - start recording a analog output from VHS player than AFTER 20 MINUTES MEP17 simply SHUTS down. How/what can I do to get a full 120 minutes recorded. I have 4 ext HDrives.and 86 FREE GBYTE on my C Drive.

Hi Jess

Check the following setting is not set to 20 mins

Is the recording destination one of the external hard drives or are you using the C drive to record to?

If you are recording to mpg then you will use up disc space at an approximate rate of 65 MB per minute of recording.

If recording to a higher resolution format then you can be using up disk space up to 1.5GB per minute of recording.

1. I record to C drive with 89 Gigabytes of open space.

2. I have set the time in ($) RECORD TIME LIMITS to several settings fro 30 Minutes to 120 Minutes - it IGNORES ALL SETTINGS.

I have varied "START TIME - along with CLOSING everything on the system. I am using a low quality recording.

I have not found ABY tab that allows for changing the BUFFER size or TEMP SORAGE size - and so far no reasonable answer from MAGIX. They ASK a lot of questions - RUN extensive - IE: 1 hour Syscheck test TWICE and so far NADA.

I have checked my MEP and it responds to the time settings OK.

A bit of a longshot however check the Power options of your computer in particular those for the USB hubs - these are my settings (Windows 7) - I run with custom power settings to stop the computer turning off devices.

Power options - advanced

Device Manager - all USB hubs are set as shown - this should come from the above setting in the Power options - if yours does not show this set them in this dialog.

Thanks - Tried the different pwr settings - no change. Later I set the RECORD TIME for 5 minutes - it worked - just can't go longer than 20 Min.

Does MEP actually close down or just stop recording or does the computer shutdown as well?

If you do something else eg browse the Internet while recording does MEP continue pass the 20 mins?

Also try doing a program reset File, Settings, Reset program to defaults - this will lose any custon folder paths and other settings you have made (if any)
