ME Pro 14 to MEPro 18

timtom27 wrote on 4/6/2012, 1:01 AM

I've been using ME Pro 14, but moved to Win 7 x64 and it won't install.  So I downloaded the trial version of v18 to see if I want to upgrade.  The first thing I notice is that I don't have many of the different fades and plugins I had with 14.  Some I bought extra.  I can't find a way to move/import them.

If I go to v18 am I out of luck?

Hi

The download version is in two parts, under the Help or on the first splash screen there is an option to download the additional components as shown in this image, This option may only be available after you have purchased the full version.

If you decide to purchase go for the Premium version then you wil not have to buy extra codecs if you need them.

Thanks.  At the moment I just have "Download video effects plug-ins..." and that's not any of the components you have below.  It won't let me have the plug-ins until I'm registered.

Does anyone know how to convert/use the .mxv, (.mxm,.efb,.fx,m3d), .s3d, .mxv plugins I have for v14 so I can use them in v18?

emmrecs wrote on 4/6/2012, 10:23 AM

Hi.

I assume these plug-ins were "installed" for use in MEP 14?  And since the upgrade to your OS they are still on your computer but no longer "installed" since they were used with your original OS and MEP14?

Have you simply tried to reinstall them (NOT move or copy them) under the new OS and MEP MX?  That MAY be all you need to do!

I say "MAY be" because I'm not sure how/whether plug-ins that apparently worked with your old OS - I assume it was 32 bit - will automatically work with a 64 bit OS.  OTOH this may not prove a problem since MEP is 32 bit.

I've got a new computer with Win 7 x64 on it.  I first tried installing v14, but it didn't like it, so I figured I'd try the latest.
I have some files named: "dvd_packxx_uk_us.exe", "overlayfx_pack02_uk_us.exe", "plugin_packxx_uk_us.exe", "sound_pack01_uk_us.exe", styles_packxx_uk_us.exe".  But when I execute them to install I get: "No supported software for MAGIX Plugin Pack 1 found!"   Similar message for the rest.

So, it's a good idea if I can next find out how to get them to install to v18

I really don't know what is the problem here!  Where did those packs originate from?  They appear to be a MAGIX source or are they from somewhere like http://mvd.homevideo.free.fr ?

Wherever they originate I think you may need to question the author(s) of these effects to discover whether they can be made to work with MEP 18 (MEP MX) and if so, how?  I have a feeling that the MX range of programs have had such a number of changes made as compared to the pre-MX ones that there could easily be some type of incompatibility.

Hi

If these packs were designed for MEP14 and Windows Xp then it is very unlikely you will get them to work with WIndows 7 64bit and MEP MX.

Windows 7 has a lot of changes compared to XP, program locations have changed, dll's etc may have compatability issues and drivers must be compatable with Win 7.

Hi Timtom

I don't see any reason why these plugins you list which appear to be the video effects that installed with MEP14 would not be able to be copied over from the folder in the MEP14 program video effects / plugins folders to the appropriate folders in the MX program / program data directories. If you have wiped your previous install of 14 I imagine you should be still able to install it in the X86 program programs of Win7 64 and then copy to the MX folders.

I've tried to make use of some transitions/effects in the MEP 15 Styles folder.  A couple examples are "70's Party" and "Paparazzi".  I've tried putting them a few different places and the .cfx files do show up.  I can drag/drop .tfx files  from Explorer, but can't get them to show up in MEP.

I kind-of liked all of these.  Do they exist in the current MEP Premium somewhere?
