Maximize Problem

GaryLee wrote on 5/4/2018, 12:45 PM

This is bizarre but when I minimize an Acid Pro 8 project, it won't maximize from the tool bar. Tried the fixes I found through searching the web (hover over the mini desktop image and Restore, etc) but my only solution so far is to pull up task manager and stop the program...not the option I want! Never had this happen before and it only happens with Acid 8. I saw on line where others had this happen with Pro Tools before but no resolution was ever found. Any ideas? (Windows 7 Pro 64, dual monitors with Quadro K600 card).

Just tried reinstalling Acid 8 from scratch...no fix. If I minimize a project I have to pull up the task manager and close the program and restart from scratch. I'll keep on it.

It's happening to me too @GaryLee.
If I type WindowsSign+Tab I can bring up the Open Apps view, but when you click on AP8, it tries to maximize, makes a dinging sound, then goes back to being minimized. I've found that if I time it right, after I type WindowsSign+Tab, and click the AP8 preview windows, if I double click on the top bar of the program, it will re-maximize.
But it's not just you experiencing the problem.

Actually, I mistakenly tagged it as 'solved'. It's not. I use AP8 all day long doing radio voiceovers and commercial production. I'm a power user of AP and have purchased additional licenses for more than two machines. AP has been my 'go to' DAW for years. I may have to go back to AP7, which is a shame as I LOVE AP8. But I can NOT minimize AP8 to the taskbar and bring it back outside of closing it in TaskMgr. Since I'm copying tracks from one project to another constantly this problem has me at a loss. Frustrating. I thought changing video cards would help but not. I'm not a 'windows 7' expert by any means but I can not figure this out...even after two entire weeknights trying to research and solve this. I've tried every single 'fix' I can find on line to no avail. Back to AP7. ps: Oh, and I'm having the same exact problem on ALL three workstations I use it on...Dell T5500 with Radeon R9-270, HP 8770W with Quadro 1000M and Dell Optiplex with Radeon HD6670. All running Windows 7.

Dear GaryLee,

I can feel your frustration.

In order to understand this problem, please give us some more informations about the Build-Number of AP8 you are using and if its the 32 or 64 Bit version.

Try minimizing AP8 with an empty project. Do you still get the error?

Best regards,

\Tobi

Thanks Shintobi! Using Build 143 (only build I know of) 64 bit. An empty project seems to minimize and restore just fine. Any project containing audio tracks will not.

Animal-Nation wrote on 5/9/2018, 12:52 PM

I'm also on Build 147, 64bit.
This is the only program I've ever run on Windows 10 that has done this.
I've linked a video - Is this what's happening to you as well @GaryLee ?

In this video I was hitting WindowsSign+Tab to view all open apps, then I found if you click AP8, and happen to double click on the main app bar at the top of the app, sometimes it will re-maxmize, but this time I couldn't get it to work :(

Thanks for the video attached Garnet. Yup, mine doing the same. I've done probably 40-50 commercial projects in AP8 so far and love it! But copying tracks from one project to another is tough...hope a solution shows up. I'm sure they'll get there!

Don't know if this will help but if you minimize and maximize from the task bar only it seems to work. If you minimize from the top of the AP8 window it's lost and you have to TskMgr and kill the program. Does that help those with a better grasp on windows 7 graphics than I have?

Thanks for the video @Animal-Nation.

@GaryLee Our developement team will work on this issue and we'll give you an information when the issue is fixed as soon as possible.

Hi,

I'm not a user, just a technician, a friend asked me how we can solve this problem, I had found a temporary workaround that you should try.

Options > Preferences > Uncheck "Enable XP Theme Support", restart AP8, and then to restore or maximize your window from Taskbar use a double click.

I hope it helps!

Kind regards,
Ricardo

For Acid Pro 9 ensuring Enable XP Theme Support must be checked on to resolve this issue. Bizarre when the OS it is running on is Windows 10 Pro.

I had the same problem in the latest version of Acid Pro 9, I currently have Acid Pro 10 and there are no problems at the moment. I am using a simple Dell Inspirion laptop with i5 and 16 gb ram, graphics in the processor.
