Making a master copy on hard drive

After completting my video with all the effects chapters and so on I would like to burn a master copy to my hard drive so that when some one asks for a copy I can burn one strait from my computer. but when I burn to my hard drive it does not make a file that can be used for burning to dvd it makes a data file. is there a way of correcting this?

Hi

You have three options:

1.  Locate the folder containing the VOB, BUP and IFO files for the DVD and preserve this folder

2.  In the Burn dialog select Image Recorder as the burn device - this will create an ISO image - a single file which is the complete DVD - and preserve this

3.  Keep a master DVD from which you copy any others.

You can the use a DVD burning program, such as Nero, Roxio or Starburn (freeware), to create copies from any of the above.

I use a combination of 2 and 3, keeping multiple backups of the projects on 3 external hard drives and never on memory sticks as these have a higher rate of failure than hard drives which can also fail.

when your work is done on the top of time line you have a gide  in blue with 17 and 18  you click at the start of your movie and at the end tyou click with your mouse it should be in blue with the time .

now go to file then export movie got to mpeg click on that you will have lots of diferrent formats to choose. when you have chosen your format then click the box that says only the selected range then to witch folder you want it in

now you wait for your finished movie to  export  you will have a copy ready for burning in dvd .

I put them on USB then plug into my HD TV and it is great .

I burn with nero 11 to DVD  great never fails magix can fail and it has for me when burning I never burn with magix any more.
