MAGIX Video Sound Cleaning Lab wont run after install

Randall-Olivera wrote on 4/6/2023, 8:12 AM

I have just purchased MAGIX Video Sound Cleaning Lab for my PC for editing. After installing the program I went to run it to activate the license key it would begin to start but wont launch the program. I've uninstalled it 3 times and reinstalled it and the same thing happens. I have both Music Maker and Magix Video pro X14 installed and running with no problem. The PC is a new build freshly installed windows 10 with all drivers up to date. I've checked other forums but haven't found anything relating to what I am experiencing. Any help is appreciated.

@Randall-Olivera

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

Video Sound Cleaning Lab is now rather an old program (It has been somewhat superseded by "Sound Forge Audio Cleaning Lab", currently at version 4) but it should still be able to run on your system, I think.

So, can you please read and follow this tutorial to try and discover what is failing. Please post either a screenshot of the whole error report or all the wording of it.

Thank you for you quick response I have checked the Reliability Monitor to see if there was anything to explain the fault but it does not show any other than Video Sound Cleaning Lab being uninstalled then reinstalled. The Critical event crashing from the days before was one from Music maker the other was from update notifier and that was do to a restart form me no other problems from those two programs.

Hi

Looking at the reliability chart there are 2 issue on the 3rd and 4th Apr - are they related to Video Sound Cleaning Lab (VSCL) ?

@Randall-Olivera Have you tried a right click on the program icon and then properties and then to set the compatibility mode to Windows 8 or 7?

@Randall-Olivera

Hi,

I suggest that you ask for your money back right away. Video Sound Cleaning Lab (VSCL) is supposed to be an upgrade from Music Editor 3 which comes with Movie Studio/Video Pro X and Music Maker Plus/Premium; it is not an upgrade - it's a downgrade. There is no VST ability with VSCL but there is with Music Editor 3. I pointed this out to Magix years ago and told them to either add VST capability or remove the product from the market. They did neither.

The true upgrade of Music Editor 3 is to Sound Forge Audio Cleaning Lab (SFACL). However, the current version 4 has a couple of major bugs - one is an error upon start up and the other is that SFACL4 cannot be opened from within the video editor (VPX) in place of Music Editor 3. SFACL3 works fine, but not SFACL4. Actually, SFACL4 opens, with an error, but the file does not load making the program useless for this purpose.

So, I suggest that you ask for your money back, tell Magix that VSCL is outdated and has less features than Music Editor 3, and that you would purchase SFACL4 but that it has bugs and cannot be opened from within VPX properly. Ask them to advise you when they have fixed the bugs.
