Magix Sales and support

hfrbe wrote on 10/6/2016, 3:20 AM

Hi All

I bought (updated) the new version 2017 of Movie edit pro

I'm a customer from Magis for many years

there's a big problem with slow rendering and I opened a ticket at support asking how I could activate the mainconcept encoder ( as explained in the manual)

got several answers , alway's turning around , with things nothing to do with my problem

now since 2 weeks they stopped responding my question. No more reaction from the support team

I send a question about this to Sales , the once answered me , completely wrong and since that moment , more then 1 week ago , no more response

some people do have the same experience ?

do they call this customer minded or customer friendly

kind regards

Hi

Did you read the installed PDF manual?  There you would find all the information you require.

See pages 311 - 312.

yes , I did

as you can see in the screenshots I don't see the Mainconcept codec. That was my question to the support, but they never answered my question and always came with answers nothing to do with my problem :)

Hi

Have you put a mp4 file on the timeline?

If you have, did and activation dialog popup?

When you try to export as mp4 what dialogs do you get popping up?

Do you have hardware acceleration turn on as shown circled in red below?

What is your computer specification - please be specific ie:

  • processor make/model?

  • quantity of RAM?

  • graphics card / chipset used?

  • hard drives type, how many and free space?

Also what is the video format of the clips on the timeline?

Hi John

as you can see I don't have the options to select

when I import a mp4 nothing pops up

I tried so on 2 different computers

now working on a heavy laptop with I7, 16GB and 500GB SSD

but nothing to do with the hardware

Hi

. . . .  but nothing to do with the hardware . . . .

On the contrary the hardware could be very relevant.  Please give the information requested plus are the graphics drivers up to date?.

Hi

. . . . but please tell me how the hardware can change the fact I can't choose the codecs . . . .

I think you have found a bug - I have also lost the option and the ability to update online after installing the latest update (16.0.1.25) !

However to answer the other part of your question

. . . . there's a big problem with slow rendering  . . . .

This you will have under the following circumstances:

Using the Intel integrated graphics chip - the  Intel i5-2300 processor integrated graphics is not capable of supporting hardware acceleration (HWA) - IIRC the Intel generation 4 processor ie i5-4xxx  with the HD4600 integrated graphics as a minimum is required.

Using the GTS 450 - if you are using the latest drivers, then it is likely that the CUDA support for HWA has been removed, NVidia want everybody to use their new NVENC codec and have removed the CUDA support from their latest drivers.  You will either have to revert back to an older driver that does have CUDA support or add CUDA support - see this topic.  If you revert back the issue then will be stopping Windows 10 from trying to update the drivers with the latest version.

In both cases above HWA is not possible and the program will revert to using the processor for rendering which is signicantly slower.

Hi John, thanks for the answer

the strange thing is that I also do have version 2015 of Movie edit pro; and the rendering over there is much faster .

I'm only angry cause Magix sales nor support won't answer me anymore ; this isn't a customer friendly compagny. Teh could easely just tell me it'sz  bug but they just ignore.

Hi

Did you activate the mp4 codec in this version?

If so then MEP 2017 will not ask to install the codec - from the manual:

. . . . MAGIX Movie Edit Pro will check to see if the codec has already been licensed to another MAGIX software and will use that license if this is the case. . . . .

Therefore you will not be able to activate because it is already done.

However we still have the issue with not being able to select which codec to use.

Another user has posted a topic relating to dialogs and I have asked them to check if they have the dialogs we are missing.

Hi

We seem to be discussing your same issue as here: http://www.magix.info/uk/rendering-in-movie-edit-pro-2017-very-slow.knowledge.1177272.html

Not ideal to have two threads going on the same subject!

Did you try to get the MC MPEG2 codec working first by the means I described. Another method is to attempt to burn a DVD and a prompt may come up about registering the MC codec on line.

What happens if you untick the "Hide installed content" box in the screenshot in your first reply? Then perhaps try "Download extra content" in the same window again.

The MC codec is much faster than the Intel doing SW only, and almost as fast as the Intel HW doing MC MPEG2 encoding, on my machine using MEP2016.

thats's correct, but I posted this to ask if other people had this kind of complaints about the Magix support

They won't reply anumore on my mail

I tried everything you asked

even burning a dvd wont give a popup

unhide and download extra content won't give me more

I simply cannot choose the codec to use and as said before I'm very disapointed that Magix just ignores his customers. Simply saying : there is a problem and we are working on it was enough. But they won't even react on my mails

that's why I opened a new discussion hoping someone from Magix would read it and react

Hi

Unfortunately, if there is a problem Magix do not usually make statements until they have confirmed what is causing it and and the result of a fix is usually only revealed by the user monitoring the content and results of a subsequent patch.

Also, this is a User Forum and it is not monitored by Magix.
