Magix MX Pro - Efficient Editing Navigation

This is not a critism of MEP MX but more that I am seeking advise on most efficient useage of the software.

When I cut or copy a object or part of an object and paste it at the end is there an easy way to navigate back to the location I took it from? At the moment I scroll ....but this can be slow..... I also swap back and forth from 5 frames to 1 or 2 mins view..... but it can be a lot of mouse clicks.

Are there any efficient methods of navigating back and forward from location to location.

Any suggestions that others find make editing user friendly and minimise mouse clicks?

Hi Whalebat

I use markers for doing this. 

Right click just above the timeline and select Marker, Set project marker and name it if you wish - I usually number them so I know which number key to use to jump from marker to marker - the number order is the same as the order in which you insert them.

You can then jump backwards and forwards between markers using the number keys. You may need to check which keyboard shortcut settings you have loaded!

You can also adjust the positions of the markers as you work and rename them if you wish.

Please help a little further......

I've had a look at the user manual for markers... pages 109 and 288 and experimented a little.

Assuming I'm using numeraical names.

Can I only use 1 to 10    ... 10 markers..... in that order (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10....seem to work)

What about Numbers above 10?

Say for example I had a piece of music and wanted to use measure numbers.... not all the measure but certain meaure..... ie. Measure 23    ......    measure 37 ..... etc 

I tried a few double digit numbers but using CTRL to jump  i.e CTRL 23..... didn't sem to work.

I also tried using CTRL with num lock on but hat didn't seem to work.

Hi Whalebat

Only the first ten markers can be accessed by the number keys, 0 = tenth marker.

The rest of the markers can only be jumped to in sequence using:

     To next project marker               Ctrl+Shift+Page down

     To previous project marker         Ctrl+Shift+Page up

That's what I thought... thanks.

I like MEP software and tend to seek better ways to use it as I go.

I use MEP as a learning aid sometimes I don't even burn to disc it would be great if the numerical naming could be expanded but  is probably unconventional with respect to editing.

Recently some projects have been longer and scrolling / switching frame view to locate content etc is a task.

Marking and accessing Video / Audio content for speedy access is now of more interest to me.

If you have any other suggestions that are also worth considering any help is appreciated.
