MAGIX Music Manager

harahava wrote on 11/7/2014, 6:39 AM

Where is it?

I have for long time tried to find better ways to arrange loops and samples than the classic Windows folder navigarions. As an example I don't care wich category or origin a drum loop belong to , as long as it fits my needs and wishes.

Accidently I got the idea to give the "Database" button in the "File Browser" a try. What I found there was very promesing, and what I could read between the lines was indeed supported in the Documentation.

The problem is that I cannot find the MAGIX Music Manager. the documetation declares it is included in MAGIX Music Maker 2015 Premium, but either system nor myselfe ca locate it.

Best Regards

Harald

I am a Norvegian man just rounded 60 years of age. I have always been very fond of music, of almost any kind and category. I did, however, prefer the Beatles as a teenager, and not the Rooling Stones. Those days this was importent. I guess I even then tended to prefer the more artistic composistions and performings rather than pure rock'n roll.

I don't play any instruments. I learned a lot of chords on a guitar as a youngster, and now I can play them on a keyboard. I can even "invent" some nice small melody fragments, but they are like dreams disolving before I can  materialize them.

About two years ago I googled some keywords that quickly lead me to the magic world of MAGIX. I could not believe what I read and saw. The Universe of my dreams available for a surpricingly low cost. For a long time I played around and puzzled together a lot of small loops and fragments. But again the challange was to merge them together into something I could call a "song".

Now I'm here, working on half a dozen "projects", slowly but with progress improving them as wall as my skills and Magix knowledge. However, I missed feedback and comments. I checked this site and desided to give it a try.

Hi,

Did Magix PhotoManager come with MMM? If so, you need to install it. It contains the database engine and you can organize images and audio files, as well and many types of video files. You can also create Categories to group theses objects. They are not copied or duplicated; the database remembers where the files are located.

Then in MMM or MEP or PhotoStory you can navigate to a Category and your grouping of objects will be there. Just do not move any files from their original location once the database has been created or you will have to create again and lose all of your categories.

I don't know if Magix PhotoManager came with MMM. I don't think so. I have looked through applications listed in Control Panel, but cannot find it. And I have tried to reistall MMM from "Music_Maker_2015_Premium_DLV_en-GB_140814_15-40_21_0_0_30.exe", choosing "Modify", but nothing there either.

I guess there is something I have overlooked, because I would exspect an easier way to get an overview over which Magix products I have on my computer. Some kind of "Installation Manager" or....

Hi Harald

When posting please include any error messages or popups that occur, which are relevant, with the question, this will help us help you much quicker and more accurately.

Photo Manager can be downloaded from Magix here.

I have not found any links to Media Manager on the Magix site and, as yet, I do not trust the external links I have found for the software.

I have emailed Magix for the location of the Media Manager.

OK. Now I have installed Magix Photo Manager 15, and confirmed that it runs.

But I still get the samme error message when I try to "Start management application for music". The "Start management allication for photos works OK, leading me to the newly installed program.

Is the overall message here that I am supposed to use a Photo manager to manage my Music?

Hi Harald,

I only have Photo Manager 12 Deluxe, but from what I have seen, they are almost the same.

To answer your question, yes, you use MAGIX Photo Manager (MPM) as I indicated in my first post. You need to add your audio files to the database, along with photos and videos if you want. The first step creates the database. Then play with the various screens to do what you want to organize your audio files. I have attached a screen shot.

Click on the Database button at the left and you will see Photos, Videos, and Audio. In my case, MPM indicates that I have 41,075 files/folders registered. When I open it, it says that the database is being created, or updated. This is a lot for the poor database and it appears to hang because it is trying to load the entire database, so I have to be patient.

The alternative is Magix MP3, which is interesting but I find MPM much more usefu, especially since I am doing mostly videos and which use many photos. With the MP3 program you can create the database as well. It is the same one that is created by MPM.

However, as I mentioned, I created a Category for audio files and subcategories to group my favourites ones. Then in MMM, under Database, Categories, I can select my category and all of my soundpools or songs show up.

OK. Thanks again for your good service, and excuse me for being a bit impationed and frustrated.

I still think, however, that there is an inconsistency between this MMM interface, the documentation manual, and the real world. But OK, I'll take from here, and see what I can find out.

Yes, even if the behavior is a bit strange, I have managed to fill the database with loops. The arrangements and namings of the folders are not quite what I hoped, there was a question about sub-folders early in the process I might have misunderstood.

So the answer here is Yes, the problem is solved.

Thanks
