Magix Music Maker Premium Live Pad

I downloaded the trial version of Music Maker Premium (24.1.5.119.(UDC2) two days ago. It saves all soundpools, vst, vocal and other recordings as objects in the arranger. However, when I use Live Pads I notice that objects are generated on each track as the styles are recording but when I click stop or pause the objects disappear so I cannot save what I have done. This happens with all elements of the Live Pads so, for example, if a drum or bass is generated in the arranger it then disappears when I click the stop button which makes using it pointless. Everything else (vsts, effects, soundpools, editing, etc) works fine as does my previous version of Music Maker Premium which I have used since 2013. My pc is Windows 10 64 bit with 8 gb ram.

Hi there,

Make sure to start your Live Pads recording by activating the "REC" button in the upper left-hand corner of the Live Pads window. This will make your choices stick when stopping the recording again. If you do it without activating record, it's basically just a dry run.

Please also note that the trial version you're looking at would be for an outdated product generation of Music Maker. My recommendation would be to install the free version of the current Music Maker generation instead:

http://dl03.magix.net/musicmaker.exe

This is a better way to explore the current state of the product, including more recent bug fixes and the in-app store system. (Unfortunately, due to the new product concept, this free version wouldn't give you access to the Live Pads, though. You'd need to acquire the appropriate feature pack through the in-app store first. However, compared to traditional trial versions, this free version doesn't put any time restriction on your trial phase. If you're happy with the feature set and content of the free version, you can basically use it indefinitely.)

I hope this info helps!

Thanks for your reply. I did click the "REC" button and I also forgot to mention that there are several times when the program crashes so I cannot save my work. This happens independently of the Live Pads issue. I Googled and discovered many other people complaining online about program crashes since version 15. Fortunately, my 2013 Premium version is very stable.

Perhaps this is why you stated that I have an outdated version which has bug fixes (perhaps those which caused crashes and other problems). However, it is very puzzling and most unfortunate that this outdated version is what I downloaded from Magix's own website just a few days ago. Why is it still being offered for sale to the public when Magix knows that it is an outdated product? It is fortunate that I did not buy it before testing the demo.

Thanks for the current Music Maker generation link. I downloaded and installed it. it requires a serial number. There is a message that if one has a previous program (Music maker 2013 premium in my case) one can use that serial number for activation but when I try I get a message that the serial number has already been used by another user! In addition, the excellent feature of being able to use VST instruments and effects (as in my 2013 Premium and the 2018 Premium with Live Pads) has disappeared. I do not see a VST folder path in program settings. I own a large number of these instruments and effects so this is a tremendous drawback as all DAWS I am familiar with have an external VST instruments and effects import option. The current program seems to me to be a step backwards in the wrong direction.

p.s. Excuse the name change but the forum somehow made me have to register again with a different name.

Hi again,

Sorry, I couldn't replicate that problem here. Seems to work fine for me, even in the older generation 24.x version of the program. Either way, this wouldn't have anything to do with any program crashes, which can happen for various reasons, and get fixed all the time. Thus the recommendation to use the most current generation product. The most prominent crashes in the current generation (25.x) of Music Maker revolve around the technology being used for the graphical user interface, often due to insufficient/old graphics hardware and outdated drivers. The next big release of Music Maker (generation 27.x) is due in the next few weeks. This will further cut down on program crashes by running in a more compatible graphics rendering mode out-of-the-box.

Sorry, that would be a mistake on the website. If you can link me to where version 24.x is still being offered as a trial download, I'll have this corrected.

This free version doesn't *require* a serial number. It will run fine without one. It just gives you the option to enter one or multiple serial numbers to unlock additional features. Unfortunately, VST support is not available in the free version. However, it should be unlocked if you enter the serial number for version 2013 Premium, as VST support would have been included in that version. The reason that 2013 serial number doesn't work for you must be due to a mismatch in the e-mail addresses you used for the old program's registration and the one you're using in the in-app store now. Get in touch with MAGIX support/sales and provide the old serial number. They can sort this out and enable you to activate the old version under your new/preferred e-mail address.

Cheers!

Hi,

Thanks for your prompt reply. I have noticed now that sometimes the Live Pads objects are saved and sometimes they all disappear such as right after I add a VST effect in the mixer. So it is some sort of software glitch if you cannot replicate the problem. The Live Pads are useful but not essential as the same result can be achieved by simply adding the objects in the styles to an arrangement as with soundpools. I didn't think it was related to the program crashing as that has happened when I am not using the Live Pads. Others have mentioned online that it closes suddenly which may be due to a variety or reasons such as the different bugs you stated are being fixed, user graphics hardware, outdated drivers and other issues. My pc is just a few months old and all drivers and other software are up to date as I monitor it with System Mechanic. I look forward to the release of generation 27.x

Thanks very much for pointing out the email address issue. I greatly appreciate it. My email address has indeed changed since I bought the 2013 Premium and once I entered the old original address I was able to activate the program and load all of my VST instruments and effects.

I can't recall exactly which link I downloaded the program from but I remember it being one which mentioned a special offer of $79.99 or 69 Euros in my case since I live in The Netherlands. The offer includes SOUND FORGE Audio Studio, iZotope Ozone Elements, Samplitude Music Studio, Music Maker Store coupons and other bonuses.

Cheers!
