Magix Music Maker Premium Edition does not export tracks and crashes

matthew-smith wrote on 4/24/2018, 10:41 PM

I have a x64 bit computer with 18 GB of RAM and I'm unable to use my brand new Premium Edition which costs $80. I really need it for work so if anyone knows a solution, please let me know! It won't even export 1 track 3 seconds long

Hi, welcome to the Magix forums.

First, please read this post and give us ALL the information requested there. At the moment we know nothing about your computer nor even the exact version of MM which you have (you can check under Help>About)!

Then detail step by step exactly what you are doing with the program and how you are attempting to export your audio file(s). Yes, we do need that level of detail in order to have any chance of helping you!

One other question: have downloaded and installed ALL the additional content that comes with MEP Premium and have you registered and activated the program?

I have version 25.1.2.78. I simply record a track with my microphone after selecting audio record on the track and save and go to export and select wav or wma (I'm not offered mp3 as a choice for some reason). It tries up to around 25% for about a second then crashes. It won't record if Asio driver is selected so I select the wave driver or direct sound. Also, I'm not able to drag tracks that I purchase onto the program. Crashes then as well. I'll send a screenshot of my system information. I have registered and activated the program under mathesismusic@gmail.com.

You have to unlock the functions/soundpools/instruments and presets as seen here: https://www.magix.info/de/tutorials/how-to-unlock-functions-instruments-soundpools-and-presets--1200673/

matthew-smith wrote on 4/25/2018, 3:36 PM

I did all of that upon installation. Does that affect import/export?

Larry98 wrote on 4/25/2018, 3:48 PM

You said you cannot export as mp3

Yeah, mp3 isn't an option when I try to export. I have registered, activated, and downloaded everything

matthew-smith wrote on 4/25/2018, 10:26 PM

Should I uninstall and re-install? Or is that pointless?

emmrecs wrote on 4/26/2018, 4:23 AM

Hi again.

The fact that you say that mp3 export is not an option for you, despite downloading and activating everything, does suggest something of your MM installation is wrong!

In which case uninstalling and reinstalling may well be your best option, but please follow carefully step by step the instructions in this tutorial to ensure that everything from the previous install is removed before attempting the reinstall.

Before I uninstall and reinstall, my PC is x64 bit and the program is 32 bit... does that affect program function?

emmrecs wrote on 4/26/2018, 5:12 AM

No. 64 bit OS can successfully run 64 bit and 32 bit programs; 32 bit OS can only run 32 bit programs. The default install location for 32 bit programs in a 64 bit OS is C:\Program Files (x86)\, whereas 64 bit programs will default install to C:\Program Files\

Am I uninstalling content and soundpools as well? I downloaded 1 of the 8 free instruments. Will it affect that?

matthew-smith wrote on 4/28/2018, 2:04 AM

Uninstalling and reinstalling wasn't successful. I followed all instructions and it redownloaded with my old files still present. Same problem. In retrospect it seems that registration and activation is a one time thing with the corporation. Is there a way to talk to an actual representative? I don't understand why this product simply does not work. I've never had a problem with Magix before

Hi,

You can raise a ticket with Support on Magix.com. Provide a detailed explanation as to what happens.

After your last installation, what actually happens? Did you update to the latest patch once again? Did you download and install everything available for you that was activated from the Store?

The one for mp3 is under "More features" and is "More tracks & formats." Did you click on this to download and install (I am presuming that it needs to be done) whatever is there? It should show up as 'Acquired" once done.

Is your computer a laptop?

Which driver are you using? See under Program settings.

When you uninstall/reinstall the program, nothing needs to be done with Soundpools as they are separate from the program.

Nothing out of the ordinary happened after I reinstalled. Everything has been registered, activated, and updated. My export options do not include "more features" or "more tracks and formats".

I have a PC, not a laptop. The Asio driver does not pic up any sound with my microphone so I have to use the wave driver or direct sound. Still can't drag purchased titles onto the program nor can I render and export a track without the program crashing and sending an error report. I sent my system info in a previous message up above. I'll send a screenshot of my export options

Hi Matthew,

I don't understand what you are doing.

In my post, I said, "

Did you download and install everything available for you that was activated from the Store?

The one for mp3 is under "More features" and is "More tracks & formats."" not in the menu like you show in your screen shot. Thus, I suspect that you did not follow the instructions in the tutorial by Horst.

In the Store, click on where it says (in your screen shot) "More instruments." Select "More features." There you will see the following:

I circled one in red that has been activated but not downloaded and installed. If you have any like this, you have to click on them, download and install. More tracks & formats is the one circled in blue.

Any that have not been activated will have a price showing when your scroll over them. Any that have been purchased, activated and installed will have a gear-type symbol.

Click on the gear at the upper right of the Store window and you'll see the first selection is "Show purchased items." You can toggle this off and on. When off, you should see only items not purchased. If "More tracks & formats" is one of these, then you didn't activate the Plus or Premium version. What do you see?

I don't understand what you mean by "Still can't drag purchased titles onto the program." You don't drag purchased titles, meaning Soundpools, from the Store onto the arranger, if that is what you mean. What exactly do you mean. Give us a screen shot of what you are trying to do.

If you don't know how to get and use the Soundpool loops, watch the first part of this tutorial.

I feel like an idiot. I can't tell you guys how much I appreciate your help. I would have discarded this program without you. Apparently I need to get hip with the progression of this program. Again, I wish I could buy you all a round.

browj2, in regards to the drag and drop, I guess I was a little vague. I meant songs legally purchased outside of the program being dragged into a track. Everything has been resolved.

You guys are the best. I'm truly grateful

browj2 wrote on 4/29/2018, 12:59 AM

Glad to hear that almost all is resolved! Can you now drag songs onto the timeline? If not, try going through the File Manager tab (just like Windows Explorer) and importing onto the Arranger by dragging.

Have fun!

Actually, everything seems to be exactly as it should be now. "Drag and drop" is a go! I sincerely appreciate you and everyone who took the time to help me out. You saved a person's year. Back to work. Take care!

Hi

Please do not hijack another users topic or resurrect old topics.

Read this topic and then create a new topic giving more information, include what you were doing just before the options greyed out.

Also note that this is a user to user forum not Magix Support, so comments such as:

are unnecessary to requirements.
