I recently bought a Behringer UMC202HD interface and no matter what I do Magix Music Maker Premium can't see it as an input in program settings
I have asked Magix customer support and they say it should be working but still stuck and getting frustrated.
I was using a older Lexicon Lamaba until recently, it worked on direct sound until a few months ago and then I started getting really bad latency and was told to upgrade the interface.
Anyone have any ideas?

The correct place to set the Behringer for audio in is in the record options - click the cog icon next to the Record button and set the Beheringer as the audio input device.
The Program settings only set the default output device - once this is set it is not normally changed whereas the audio input for recording is.

OK that did work. However I still can't get Direct Sound to work, I can only get the live input to come out of the interface with the speaker connected using WASAPI and that is with latency.

Try installing and using ASIO4All.
You may also need to tweak the buffer and other audio settings - see this article , it refers to Samplitude however the principles are the same for MMM - you just do not have so many options.
This article - also deals with latency in MMM 2016, it also applies to the current version.
