When I try to open any mp3 file in a new arrangement I get this error;

The file format of

C:\File\artistname\album\title.mp3

cannot be read by MAGIX Music Maker.

Please ensure that the affected drive is not full or

write-protected.
(I'm sure it is not

If you do not have read or write access to this path,

please contact the administrator. (I do have access.)

The only way to import music on magix is by converting it in wav (which you now will occupy a lot of space in my drive since a file is like 40mb or so

All other softwear reads mp3s with on problem.

Does it do this for all .mp3s? What if you create a test song and save as .mp3, can it load this one?

From the manual it states:

MAGIX Music Maker 2013 Premium loads and edits audio files in the formats Wave
(.wav), OGG Vorbis (.ogg), Windows Media Audio (.wma), MPEG (.mpg), MP3
(.mp3) and CDA (audio CD tracks). The stereo or mono data of a file are displayed as
an object in the arranger of the MAGIX Music Maker 2013 Premium. The material will
be displayed as a waveform, optically representing the sound to make editing easier.

I on occasion have these types of issues however usually i can drag and drop the desired mp3 into the carriage, when this doesnt work i either have to do a reinstall of the desired media or reposition it in my computer to either another directory or a memory stick, as the gentlemen who answered before said the file will be displayed in the carriage as a waveform not a file or notes, there will be however a small label on the lower part of the sample telling you the sample name and format (in the carriage as well as in the menus) also did you use the option next to the soundpools (not simple set up advanced) to acces the correct drive from within the menus in the progam itself.

Concerning the error message, I did have a similar problem with MAGIX Movies on CD & DVD 2005.

The solution was to uninstall the current codec pack and reinstall the one I used when the clip was created.
