Magix Music Maker - moving from XP to Windows 7 - different folder systems

Magix Music Maker - the program wors fine on my XP computer but I am transferring all my files to a new PC running Windows 7. The PC with Windows 7 cannot find the Soundpool or the .mmm files that I carried over. The folder systems are different.  I cannot open the projects I created in Windows XP now that I am using Windows 7.

There's two ways to fix this - one may be better than the other.

You can move the folders to their original location as in Window XP (assuming you have a record of what they were)....OR...Go to the Folders tab in the Program Settings, click on each of the folders on the right side and set the folders to the new locations.

Although your suggestions are clear, I still cannot solve my problem. This is hugely disappointing for me as the main reason for buying a new computer was so that the processor could cope with the demands of song compositions and replay them without juddering.

On the new PC with Magix installed, I can create, save and retrieve NEW mmm files.

I copied over my .mmm project files from my old to new pc but when I open them a message tells me that the loops (sound files) cannot be found. I am too dumb - or too old - to understand how to put this right. I appreciate what you say about Program / Settings / Folders to amend the destination ... but I cannot get it right.  So old .mmm project files cannot be accessed complete with their 'sounds'.  At least, not by me!

When it tells you the loops cannot be found, it should be giving you the opportunity to locate them and show the arrangement where the new location is - much like the folder location.  Obviously, if you've used a large number of loops, this can be a quite tedious job.

Thanks, Procyon. You are quite right, of course, the message indicates the location where it expects to find the loops (but can't).  The directories it is looking in were created on my 'old' pC using Windows XP.  I have tried to recreate these directories on my new PC (Windows) 7 but without success.  I have copied all the loops into a folder called 'Sounds' and set the Magix Program Folder to look there for Soundpool ... but that didn't work.

I am disappointed and frustrated because - in theory - some of what I've tried should have made a difference.

Do you live in Cambridge? A big box of chocolates awaits you if you do!

Not there yet but I'm going to check the loops and remove all  'effects' from them.

It's curious that re-addressing the folders did not work.

I would welcome a visit from you (and a partner?) and any help or advice you could offer as a fellow-user would be well received. 

I removed several 'copied' vocal loops and matters improved. I have a bit of track stutter which lasts a couple of seconds only. However - you might not like the music  -but I do want the bits of my creation to work as I take some pride in making use of the program.  I live in the growing village of Fulbourn.
