I searched the .dll (MSVCR110.dll), and someone mentioned try installing Visual C++ 2012 Update 4 (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30679) but this didn't resolve it.

I do appear to have issue getting permission to access C;/Progam Files/ Window Apps --> even after adminstration prompts, cannot seem to access folder to see if tracks did record or not.

Edit: Running the Windows 8 Store app; Music Maker Jam

Hi

Did the notebook originally have Windows 8 installed and you upgraded to Windows 8.1 - if so try reinstalling the app, WIn 8.1 is known to break some applications, you may also try re-installing the dll using the one from here

What device are you using for recording, how is it connected to the notebook and is it selectable in the Music Maker app?

John
