Hi All,

Right this magix.info website frustrates me becuase it just tries to deal with way too much and isn't really focused on one particular product. The product I am most interested in is magix music maker. So I decided to take it upon myself to create a whole new webiste. It's actually uses social networking software but I created it to be dedicated to music maker. So i you have any good tips, tutorials or know of any good resources that you think you and others will benefit from when using magix music maker then please join and start adding content.

I am going to try and add as much content as I find that I think is useful and I hope you will do the same. THe url is magixmusicmaker.co.uk Please check it out and lets all help each other in figuring out how to use muisc maker better.

Hopefully see you there.

Thanks,

Harry

Hi Harry,

Interesting initiative, but, given what I have seen in this forum, you may not be too successful. Nice site though.

The present Discussion Forum is dedicated to MMM, and as you can see, there is not much participation. Most of the posts are in the Q&A part, and most of the questions are basic:

  • The program crashes
  • Where are my soundpools/instruments
  • How do I connect my mic, keyboard, mixer
  • Licensing

There is the part for Show & Discuss in which many people exhibit their output, but say nothing about technique.

There is a section for tutorials, but there is not much content. There are tutorials published on YouTube by various people, often repeating each other (how to use MMM) and almost none of these people contribute to this site. Tutorials are time-consuming. As well, people create tutorials and post them on YouTube as part of their Channel, to get users to watch, and hopefully make money from advertising. That is not the objective of this Forum (except for Magix, of course).

There is very little demand, it seems, for details and the technical aspects of putting together a work. There is little to no discussion about how to use the tools and plugins. Often when someone does have a good question about something complicated, no one replies. Once people are up and running, they seem to tune out. There are only a few users who assist by answering questions.

I noticed that you have been registered here since the end of August, and have posted 3 messages in the Forum, including this one. You did not even provide any information about yourself. Your contribution to making this site more interesting is virtually nil. Take a look at the Move Edit Pro Discussions and you will see a much more vibrant exchange of ideas. Even then, the number of users who actually contribute regularly is limited.

Note that Magix points to this user Forum in all of its products, so many users know where to come for help, and they can come here easily using the link in the program. As well, with MX there are users who have more than one product and it is very convenient to always come to the same place. I do some dubbing of videos using MMM and sending them back to Movie Edit Pro. I use the Audio & Music Cleaning Lab, as well as some other Magix products. This Forum is a one-stop place for all of them (except Xara).

I, too, would like to see more activity in this Discussion part and more tutorials in the tutorials part. Creating a separate site, however well-intentioned, will only serve to dilute or diminish somewhat the usefulness of this site for users who will come here first. I suggest that you first try to contribute here and to help answer questions, and that you create some tutorials on things other than "How to use MMM" and post them here. This site, like yours, will only be successful with the contribution of many.

So, how about helping out?

Hi

. . . . Right this magix.info website frustrates me becuase it just tries to deal with way too much and isn't really focused on one particular product. . . . .

That is the point of the forums - they cover all Magix products and it is sub divided by the appropriate topics/products.

Added:   and all John CB says - he beat me to it

Hi guys,

Thanks for both or your responses. browj2 you make very good points and I agree I should become more vocal on here so I think I will try and contribute more on here first. I just felt a bit frustrated because I've searched and searched for some good tutorials/ help and couldn't really find much. Anyway lets move on from that.

browj2 in a previous topic you mentioned there are pdf help manuals but I could not find them on my machine. Does anyone know if there any copies on line.

Regarding myself I'm basically a keen amature when it comes to music maker. I love the idea of potentially making a hit single one day. Hey I know I am dreaming but we all have dreams right? I'm into dance music but other than listening to it I don't know much else about it. I'm trying to teach myself the art of music production. I brought music maker a few years ago and have played about with it off and on but just recently I decided to try and learn how to use it more as it cost me alot of money and so far I've just been playing with it.

I can't really play any instruments altough I brough an auxiom keyboard to use with MMM.

Just recently I've been expermenting with re-mixing tracks. I've managed to find the some midi files online which I've downloaded, split up into the seperate tracks and then experminting with new instruments and effects.

I guess I just feel like there could be more in the way of help from magix themselves. But I guess it's a difficult thing to do with MMM as everyone will be using it for different reasons.

I have tried to make some videos myself. Especially for the re-mixing of midi files. It wasn't obvious to me that a midi file could be split into tracks so i wanted to add something showing how to do that. I have struggled so far as I can't record the output from my speakers and me talking at the same time so the videos have been rubbish. Still I'll keep trying and maybe I'll figure it out.

Time for me is pretty tight so I try to do what I can when I can. I'll try to have more of a presense on here from now on and hopefully other people will start to join in more too.

Thanks again for the replies guys.

Harry.

Hi Harry,

It's good to hear back from you. Which version and flavour (regular or Premium) of MMM do you have?

There are other tutorials by Kraznet on YouTube for Samplitude, which is really a much more developed version of MMM for professionals. There are several about midi editing that may be useful.

I presume that you have all of the Instruments and Soundpools installed. Correct? If not, go to Help, Update Program/Update functions, Download free synthesizer and sound packages.

If you bought MMM on-line through Magix, you would have received the link to download the manual. But, you probably already have it. Go to Help, Documentation, PDF manual. Or, simply use the on-screen help - F1, which duplicates the manual. As well, the pfd manual should be in:

 C:\Program Files (x86)\MAGIX\Music Maker 2014 Premium

or whichever version that you have, and also in:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\MAGIX\Music Maker 2014 Premium\Documentation

Which programs are you using to make the video (capture program and video editing program)?

If you received some of the plug-ins, you may find their manuals under:

C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Analogue Modelling Suite Plus

C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\essentialFX Suite

C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Vandal

C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\VariVerb II

and C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Vintage Effects Suite

CREATING VIDEO TUTORIAL

It is not a good idea to try to capture the sound from the computer and from a mic at the same time. I am not even sure that it can be done. In making a tutorial, capture what it is that you are doing, along with the sound through the audio card. Then in the video editing program, add in your audio to suit how you have edited what you have done. Use headphones if there is sound from what you captured coming through while you are recording the audio. You do not want that sound twice; you want a clean recording of your voice. Your audio recording goes to a separate track in the video editor that you can also edit (and redo and redo until you get it) and clean. You do not need to record the entire audio in one recording; just do small parts. See one of my tutorials, like the one in this link, and you will understand a bit better.

 Enjoy!

I have Magix Music Maker MX production suite version 18 which i think is the 2011 version. I brought it a few years ago now so I'm not using the latest version. I did have the opportunity to upgrade a while ago but I didn't see the point as I hardly know how to use the version I have so I figured I need to learn to use it first before justifying any upgrade purchase.

I have all the latest sound pools and synths installed and all the latest updates fro my version. To be honest I am trying to create completley new music rather than using the sound pools so I'm using the midi editor a lot along with the beat box and loop designer.

I think it's just a case or persevering and learning how to use what I have a bit better.
