I installed studio 2025 and hours later, purchased and installed studio ultimate 2025. It will not open, it shuts down immediately after clicking on it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. No luck. I need help
We need more information to help diagnose the issue(s) you are having:
The specification of your computer system including Windows version and program version, see this topic for what is required, and please quote processor and graphics card make/model in full, and also what monitor/screen resolution(s) you are working with if this is a laptop.
I would suggest you put this information in your profile signature so we do not have to keep asking for it.
Are you getting any error messages, if so then please quote them in full or provide screen shots.
Are the graphics card/integrated GPU drivers up to date?
See this tutorial on diagnosing crashes using the Windows Reliability Monitor, and post any log entry that refers to Movie Studio, also known as Video Deluxe, see example below
Similar problem here. Dell Latitude 7410 / Windows 11. My old Movie Studio 16 Platinum wouldn't run on the a new machine. Removed devices using the old thinking possibly too many registere, but eventually just paid for 2025 upgrade. Kicks back errors, won't send crash log using the app pop-up link
First, are you aware that Vegas Movie Studio 16 Platinum and Magix Movie Studio 2025 are completely different programs? The latter is built on the old Magix Movie Edit Pro. Movie Studio 2025 is NOT an "update" to MS 2016, despite what Magix publicity might say!
Second, the error message you show points to the problem being one with your graphics. OpenCL is a component used by whatever graphics card or integrated GPU you have. So, as a first step, please check that your graphics and CPU drivers are fully up to date. Don't depend on Windows Update to do this for you but rather go direct to the manufacturer's website (Dell) and check there.
Further, can you follow the advice in the post directly above yours and give us ALL the information requested there, please; it really does help us (fellow-users) to help you.
Is it possible to have the license number deactivated and my purchase refunded? I am not in a place with reliable internet service. The time and travel isn't affordable. If I wasted money on it, so be it. But I don't intend to invest anything more since it didn't run upon installing.
Yes you can apply for a refund. Assuming you bought it directly from Magix you need to send full details of your order/invoice number in an email to infoservice@magix.net and request a refund.
If you purchased it from a third-party seller you need to contact them with your refund request.
I'm not sure what you mean when you say The time and travel isn't affordable: I'm not sure what travel is involved with your purchase or refund, unless the upgrade was not direct from Magix..
Did you try any of the suggested methods to try and help you to discover what causes the specific problem for you?
Yes, thanks. I just received their order receipt with full details. I wouldn't call myself a dissatisfied customer, at all. Support here is swift and thorough. Apparently, it is my machine with the problem
I have the same problem. Magix Movie Studio 2025 Suite starts and then crashes without an error message.
2024 worked on this same computer when it ran Win 10. After I've changed to a bigger ssd and to Win 11, it stopped working. I upgraded to 2025, hoping it would solve the problem, but it didn't. I went back to Movie Edit Pro 2016, that seems to work.
My specs are in my profile. I would appreciate any help. I've already changed to Visual C++ 2015.
Hi Ray, Thanks. I've done that, didn't help. I have different folders and dlls though. But I've exceptioned the Magix folder and the Movie Studio 2025 Suite folder.
Sorry that didn't help. One reason I've stuck with Win 10 is I have never really had problems with it and program compatibility with some of my more antiquated programs. Odd your 2016 version is working without problems but the 2025 version isn't. Your system seems to be well within spec.
Is it crashing straight away or when loading a project? If it's when loading a project then the project could have corrupted. Or are you trying to load an old project? If an old project is loaded that relied on an old effect being present that is no longer in the new version that too may be the cause of a crash but normally you would just get a missing plug-in warning.
Also do you have other related effects that did not come with the 2025 suite? Magix has the habit of looking around for pre-installed effects that could also be a cause but I'm now just taking stabs in the dark.
I know in the past when I have upgraded a copy of VPX or MMS that previous plug-ins that are a part of the other program also gets loaded onto the new program.
I have just downloaded movie maker 2025 but am unable to open it to get started, it just freezes on the page of the canoe. I have uninstalled and reinstalled but still no joy. Any advice welcome

Was the program working, or has is just been activated and will not proceed further?
Check that there is not a hidden dialog box waiting for a response from you - point hover the mouse pointer over the program icon in the Taskbar, if you see 2 icons for the program press the Enter key, if nothing happens press the Esc key.

Can you post a screenshot of the splash screen (canoe page).
Hi John, it worked initially and then the next time I have gone to log in it won't open, I am unable to attach the screenshot on here. I'm using windows 11 on an HP envy x360 convertible 15-ee0xxx, GMU - AMD radeon TP graphics
@Jude-Harrison-Smith the specs you posted for your computer are ambiguous. See my Signature below in what is needed. You can find out what your CPU, RAM and GPU are by opening Task Manager (right mouse click on the Windows taskbar, Task Manager). Then with Task Manager open, click on Performance>CPU, then Memory, then GPU.
Assuming this is the HP Envy with the AMD Ryzen 7 4700U processor (CPU) with integrated graphics
The integrated graphics chip (GPU) in the Ryzen 7 4700U, is well below that of the recommended minimum RX470, a separate graphics card.
This may be the cause of the start-up issue if the drivers are not up-to-date, the latest version is available here.
Do note that this laptop/tablet is likely to struggle with anything more than very light video projects, eg 4K or HEVC encoded video, eg video from mobile phones.
. . . . I am unable to attach the screenshot on here . . .
Ensure the screenshot image is a jpg file and upload it in a comment using the blue circle with white, upward pointing, arrow icon in the toolbar at the top of the comment dialogue entry box
See this tutorial for how to get information from Windows if the program hangs/crashes on startup and post any error message if there is an entry for Movie Studio.
