. . . . MAGIX Movie Studio 2023 Suite now support Legacy Text and Underline text . . . .
If by 'Legacy text' you are referring to Vegas Movie Studio (VMS) 17, for which further development was dropped several years ago, then Magix Movie Studio (MMS) is an entirely different product based on Movie Edit Pro which was rebranded Magix Movie Studio just over a year ago.
I would suggest that if you are considering MMS 2023 that you download, install and try the trial version and also look at the Movie Edit Pro 2021 and Movie Studio 2023 tutorials in this list.
Movie Edit Pro 2021 which is very similar to MMS 2023 with the exception of Size Position and Rotation which is covered in tutorials lower down the list.
Do note that if you have Movie Studio 17, the hardware requirements for 2023 are higher.
MMS 2023 has multiple templates for scrolling text and you keyframe the text movement to move however you wish.
There are multiple text templates and presets already supplied with MMS Platimum and Suite and you can also create and save your own templates. The title categories are indicated by the yellow square
As I suggested, download the trial and test it refering to the tutorials I linked to, not all features are available in the trial version, however there is enough for you to determine if it is suitable for your needs.
Do be aware that you will be learning a new workflow, timeline layout and different methods of using features of the program.
If you want to maintain the same workflow, screen layout then Vegas Edit is probably more suitable for you.
One last question please. Will MAGIX Movie Studio 2023 run on Windows 10? If not, what is the latest version that will run on Windows 10 and where can I get it?
I suggest that you download and install the trial version first to make sure that it works on your computer. The hardware requirements are somewhat stringent.
Magix.com website, which is where you purchase Magix products.
I don't think that they will sell you an older version, but you can always ask. Click on the Support button at the top of the forum, select your product, scroll to the bottom of the page. The rest should be obvious.
And how do I contact someone for a refund to purchase an older version if I need to?
There is no point in getting an earlier version if you can't run the 2023 version with the video files you are using. The hardware requirements have not effectively changed over the recent versions of Magix Movie Edit Pro or Magix Movie Studio.
In the event that you cannot get an earlier version, and please do not try buying one from anywhere else except Magix as you may end up 'jumping out of the frying pan into the fire' by buying a 'used' product which you cannot register/activate.

This is very true.
It would be useful if you tell us the following, so we can advise program settings to get the best editing experience from your PC:
Computer specification - see this topic for what is required and please quote the processor and graphics card/ integrated chipset make/models in full - I would suggest you put this information in your profile signature so we do not have to ask for it again.
The video format, resolution and codecs used for the video and audio you are editting would also help us advise settings for the best performance on your PC - if you do not know this then download and install MediaInfo and analyse one of the video clips and post the results in a comment - see this tutorial on how to analyse and get the information in the correct format for posting in the forum.
Thank you Ray - I don't see a problem with the hardware or operating system requirements 😄
I have not run the installation exe yet.
It's been several years since I've done a complete restart with a new SSD and re-installation of all my software which I'm going to start today if possible. This usually takes about a week to get up to speed.
BTW, I've been using versions Movie Studio Platinum for the last eight or ten years. Currently using version 16.
Glad to help but it would still be a good idea to let us know your current computer specs as sometimes people read the tech specs page and still don't fully understand the implications of some of the choices on offer there. Some systems cope much better than others, especially if you use any additional effects or working with flies with higher than HD resolution.
Either do that or click on any members + SIGNATURE at the bottom of each of their posts to get an idea of other peoples systems.
I have yet to come across a video editing program that has no bugs or problems but thankfully if a system is up to spec most of the bugs found in Magix Movie Studio and Video Pro X can either be worked around or there may be a setting or driver fix.
. . . . I don't see a problem with the hardware or operating system requirements . . . .
You may not as a user coming from Vegas Movie Studio 16, however we users of Magix Movie Studio 2023 have different experiences with the software and as I said previously:
'Magix Movie Studio (MMS) is an entirely different product . . . . Do be aware that you will be learning a new workflow, timeline layout and different methods of using features of the program. . . . we can advise program settings to get the best editing experience from your PC:' . . .
With the information requested when you hit hardware / software / video format/resolution related problems we can recommend settings etc to help you get up and running as quickly as possible.

Okay - I need help please.
First when I click in a timeline nothing happens. I have to move the orange vertical bar on the left of the timeline somewhere to start playing where I want. I cannot find any switch to defeat that and I've looked in the PDF help. I want to click somewhere then press the spacebar to play.
And I cannot find how to add content like audio files which I always keep in the project folder.
This happens with the programs demo project or an older version 16 project.
Assuming you are running Windows 11 - check in Windows settings, Accessibility, Text cursor indicator is turned off.
If the OS is not Windows 11, or the Text cursor indicator is set to off, then we need the computer specification - see the topic I previously linked to above.
Also what are the options in Program settings, Import, Processing and Export set to?
Without this information we would be guessing and entering into the 'try this, try that' which is not conducive to solving the issue quickly.
This is Magix Movie Studio and it does not work the same as Vegas Movie Studio.

I cannot find any switch to defeat that and I've looked in the PDF help. I want to click somewhere then press the spacebar to play.Clicking in the timeline either selects and object or deselects if something has been selected.
To move the playback marker, click in the grid at the top of the timeline or drag the triangle at the top of the playback marker. Then press play.
And I cannot find how to add content like audio files which I always keep in the project folder.
Drag and drop on a track.
If you're using the Import tab in the Media Pool, drag and drop or use the import arrow. If you want a specific place on the timeline/track, use drag and drop or put the playback marker there and select the track in the track header. Nothing should be on the timeline at that location.
This is very basic editing. I strongly suggest that to save yourself a lot of time and anguish you watch my tutorials on Getting Started parts 2 and 3 (1 is for installation) followed by Basic Editing Parts 1 and 2. See the list in this thread.
Please take notes whilst watching and let me know if there is something that is confusing or needs more explanation. They are somewhat dated and I'll be doing redoing them when MS2024 comes out. Some feedback would be appreciated.
