Magix Movie Editor Pro Doesn't open

Peter-Paciorek wrote on 5/4/2023, 6:27 PM

I am running Windows 11 Home and recently cannot open Magix. I have removed and reinstalled the software, but nothing happens when I try to open it. I have tried shortcuts, directly from the start menu, and using old project files. I see the "mouse icon" twirl like it is doing something, but nothing happens. Thank you for any help.

@Peter-Paciorek

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

Inevitable question: exactly which version and edition of Movie Edit Pro do you have?

Also, please read this post and give us ALL the details about your computer which are listed there.

If you supply all that information we should be able to help you!

@Peter-Paciorek

Thank you for the additional information. Unfortunately, for your computer it is incomplete! Can you please add details of any GPU you have and the size, type and amount of free space on your hard drive(s)?

When you originally removed the software prior to reinstalling it did you take great care to ensure everything associated with the previous install was removed? When the app is first installed an Installer Log is created; Windows uses this log to effect any Uninstall. Unfortunately, because certain files and registry entries are created on first and subsequent runs of the software, the Uninstaller Log knows nothing of their existence and so does not remove them. It is highly likely that it is one of these files or registry entries that is causing the problem to continue even after Uninstalling and Reinstalling.

In such situations the advice usually offered here is to download and install the free Revo Uninstaller. Allow it to carry out the initial uninstall and then use its Advanced scan mode to search the whole of your computer for anything related to MEP. It will display a list of files, folders and registry entries it thinks are related to MEP; if you have any other Magix software installed check carefully EVERYTHING it lists so that you do not lose anything related to those other apps.

Once this process is completed, reboot your computer and then try to reinstall the software. Hopefully, you will now have a functioning software! If you still cannot run the program I think you need to create a Support Ticket; start at the Support header of any forum page, always taking care to choose the option to Ask Support.

The version number will be available to you via the Help menu once the software can be opened and used.
