Magix Movie Edit Pro Premium cannot find or recognize saved MVP Project files

Hello all,

After searchng every where in help and manual, and thru Magix forum, still cannot find any solution, I have been having this constant problem , after editing my video clips in Movie edit pro, I save and export in mp4 format to my ext usb drive, using same (locked USB Drive letter) and rename video to my desired new name.

Then, after exporting video, in movie edit pro, I also save studio project with copy and pasted new name given added , but with .MVP on end of files, to my MEP premium folder on my  WIN 64 bit laptop C drive, where MEP is installed, so if addtl editing needed can reload in MEP saved video file, and not import saved mp4 file, so do not lose more quality in video.

For some reason, MEP appears to for a short period time , sometimes shorter time than other video projects, MEP recognize my saved .MVP project files, but after a liitle time goes by, MEP  will not recognize or find saved project files that are clearly exactly where I saved them all in the same MEP folder on my C drive.

Keep getting same error on many files: The file could not be found. I am allowed to rename the orig file to my desired title in Magix after editing video files right?

I have tried MEP save project, and Save as project, but same problem, also tried adding the .MVP and .MVD on the end of these saved video projects, but MEP will still not recognize my saved project files any more. It of course will open and load the exported MP4 files, but do not want to do my video Re Edits with these , as I believe each time I Re Export, I am losing more resolution and quality etc.

Any way to get MEP to fuly recognize All my hard editing work, and  time consuming saved video projects at all times? Cannot figure what I am missing, or is this just some gliche in the program etc?

Please do advise any help at all. Thanks in advance!!!

Hi,

I'm a bit lost as to what you are doing. Watch this tutorial, especially the part about project file location, projects, and source files.

You didn't indicate which version of the program - 2014, 2015?

Your project files should not be saved and are most likely not saved, under

C:\Program Files\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro 2015 Premium

as this is only for the program. See the tutorial and Program settings.

When you say that "The file could not be found" do you mean the .mvp or when you open an .mvp (project) it says this? If this is the case, then you are probably deleting or moving the source files. They have to remain on your hard drive at the same location. See the tutorial.

Thanks for the quick response John, my apologies, I am using the 2015 version. Yes, MEP says file cannot be found, when try to Reopen a previously saved .MVP project file.

I also carefully went thru the fine tutorial link you sent me, and I did verify that under my MEP program settings folder, that all my MEP Projects and Exports both show set to:  C:\Program Files\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro 2015 Premium. Is this not correct?

I (do not) delete any of orig video files loaded into MEP on my PC.

Again , after editing my videos in MEP, I  simply must Rename all video clips to a better recognize file name, to help me build my video playlists later when using. So I use this new Rename as the export file name, and I also use this new Rename video file name , when saving project in MEP , in case need to re-edit later. Could this be where the problem is arising? Am I allowed to Rename the orig project file to a better suited file name, that I choose and then save video as MVP project file under new name?

Or is MEP forcing me to not change orig file name at all, if saving in project in MEP, because if I Rename project file name in any way, MEP will not be able to find file later if needed, even though it is saved along with all others under same C:\Program Files\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro 2015 Premium. Even though I am exporting video also as an mp4 file under this new Rename, but this should Not affect the orig edited MEP project files saved right??

Sorry, if still confusing, I hope this is clear what I am asking re: MEP cannot find all my project files saved, problem.

Before purchasing MEP , I have used many other video editors, that simply allow me to edit my video clips, rename and save as project, for later if need to do any addtl editing on clip, and all other editors still recognize and open edited project file, no matter how old, very easily, to do addtl editing, still not sure why MEP is not allowing me to simply Reopen previous project files for addtl editing at a later time.

**(One addtl note, after saving project file in MEP, I do, delete edited video from timeline, and then load next video for editing in MEP, as I cannot find any other options, to clear video, and load a new separate video in to MEP for editing, so not sure if this could be why MEP cannot find project later, but do not see why, since I have already saved edited video project in MEP, before deleting or removing from timeline)

Thanks again for the time and help!
